I've been flying other FPV planes for a couple months, but finally
got the Skywalker back out. I'd almost forgotten how much
fun it is to fly.

Sure you did, and I have to do the same, I've been 100% with my FPV quad and have my SW grounded for 3 months, will have to fly it soon. Thanks for remember.

Nice flying. You must have a clear view on the goggles to get that close to trees, power lines and other obstacles and still survive.

Reasonably clear, but a lot of it is just knowing where stuff is. Fly low
enough and the powerlines are a non-factor. Same with the low
hanging branches. Stuff sticking up from the ground is in some ways
a bigger hazard. During a flight yesterday I had to pull up to clear
a baby deer standing in the path.

Great video.
Gives me something to shoot for.
You obviously know the area pretty good.
Landed a little far from yourself though didn't you? Wanted to get a look at the setup.

Ya, I engaged the spoilerons, and it dropped like a rock.
Again, I've been flying the X8 too long, where I need a 200 yard approach.

I've actually put the X8 through a few of those same spaces but it's just
too fast, and not nearly as nimble as the SW, to feel comfortable dipping
under low hanging branches over running water. SW doesn't tip stall
no matter how hard you pull on the elevator, where the X8 can at
slower speeds.

The newest one with this different wing is it the way to go? And there is one, with improved climb performance. Thanks Erkq

Ian, did it take a lot of rudder to make most of those turns? How much would you say is ailerons vs rudder?

I think I used the rudder once.. maybe twice in that whole vid.
Once was the spiral dive to start the last continuous sequence.
I do have about 50% differential (50% more up throw than down
on each aileron) and the CG is somewhere south of 30mm
behind the servo wires. That was also all flown with low aileron rates.
My high rates are really twitchy (good for continuous rolls and little else).
Was using high rate elevator though. (Don't know the throws off hand).

gotcha, yeah mine certainly doesn't roll that well with ailerons, I wonder if the small gap with the wing and ailerons from using hinges makes that much of a difference?
