Is that a metal bushing at the boom support, or a brass sheath for the dowel?

I would recommend sheathing the dowel with a metal tube. That way if it gets
wet out on the pond, it won't swell and get stuck. I imagine it would become an
issue if the booms could not be dismantled after you were done sailing for the day.

Umi, the 1/4" dowel is only to keep things aligned until I get things secured. (I did not have a piece of 1/4" brass long enough to be the temporary alignment rod.) I will use individual brass pins in the bushings you see in the photos later.

These uprights are removable and will be relocatable to a further aft position for a different boom configuration.

I am sure you guys have seen this somewhere else on the net, but here is a scan from our local paper showing a heavy lift.

I have done a poor job of explaining what is inside my pea brain. My apologies for that.

The lattice truss will span across the barge segments laterally (port to starboard) and connect the barge segments together. This will allow the catamaran type of configuration with open water between the two outside barge segments with the superstructure inbetween. The superstructure will be incorporated into the truss.

You can (kind of) see the truss in the drawings on the first page.

Pops, I just noticed your collection of flight helmets and goggles, etc. Very nice! I had some nice gear myself, but it was stolen from my Dad's apartment parking storage locker when I was away playing Army. I had a black leather USN flying helmet, from the 30's. Had stiff leather openings around the ears for push fit of the headset speakers to go into. I had a khaki cloth USN helmet from WWII, with green oxygen mask that snapped onto it. And I had a WWII leather jacket that the B-17 pilots would have worn. I also had various collar insignia, pilots wings, and other regalia. All genuine stuff too. Some dirty rat bast**d stole it and lots more.

Talk about brute force and ignorance
