Saito 100 RPM

I broke in a Saito 100, and am only getting about 9000 RPM with a 14x8 prop.
Is this normal?

Re: Saito 100 RPM

The RPM's sound about right.

From my experience a Saito takes about 4 gallons of fuel to fully
break-in. So you may pickup a few more rpms with more running.

Some articles say that as an engine breaks-in the wearing metal
particles can attach to the glow plug and reduce glow plug
performance.

So it never hurts to change the glow plug after the first couple
gallons of fuel.

My Saito's seem to run better and idle better with a OS #F glowplug.

I agree. For me, that might be a season or more of flying, depending
on the plane. My Saito 91 turns a 14x6 at about 9600 rpm, perhaps a
little more. I tend to run it a little on the rich side. I run Cool
Power 15% two stroke fuel.
