I noticed that HET makes a 4mm rotor adapter now, looks like it's slowly catching on, and hopefully the motor companies will follow suit...

Yeah I have two of them. I hope they all go to 4mm shafts. 3.17 was for 60mm fans or nicd days. I never checked to see if my wemo shaft adapters will work with the e-flite fan. I'm gonna do that right now!

No dice!! Unless I find a shaft adapter that will work on e-flites fan I will have to use the wemo rotor. The wemo adapter wont work cause the e-flites is threaded at the end. The het adapter comes really close as its a collet type but is just too short. The problem is gonna be finding an adapter that not only will fit it, but one that runs true.

what? thats what i used on the fan thats in your F-16 man. you have to trim the end down a little to get the eflite nut on, or just use the wemo nut.

Than how did you get the e-flite spinner on?? Its threaded.

Use the wemo washer/nut and no spinner.

The 5 and 6s Velocity 2600kv and 3200kv, 29x56mm motors have 4mm shafts. I'm looking into getting them with 28mm bodies.

Saw this at the Toledo Show today, very nice looking model. I was impressed with the cleanness of the ducting. Looked nice smooth and shiny from the inlet to the fan that was as much as I could see.

I was at Toledo yesterday, a rep said they are on the water. Real nice looking very thin wing.

Three challenges I can think of getting gear in the wing:
1. Spar Placement. If they put the spar in the wrong spot getting room for retracting wheels will be a pain.
2. Wing thickness. Will there be enough depth for the retract unit itself? A bulge might be needed.
3. Space under the inlet duct and under/in front of the fan. There might not be much room for fitting in scale size wheels (most jet wheels are too small, smaller than scale size, kinda bugs me but if there's little space I'd rather use super tiny wheels than dealing with that bungee mess). Looking at the pics again I'd say there's a good chance there'll be room for wheels, the round ducting will probably allow the wheels to retract into the corners of the fuselage. It makes for a narrower wheel track but ROG and retracting is so much nicer.

I have a feeling you are right Ed. I'll bet that wing is just too thin for most retracts. Maybe a set of maps or Sapac pneumatics might work.....MIGHT!
Either way with the wing being thin, I'll bet this one will haul major ass on almost any setup. Its very clean intake wise. My only concern is if the wings are really that thin I get worried about easy tip stalls. I hope it has a decent amount of washout at the tips.

I saw the F-8 at Toledo. The wings are very thin back where the main gear is. And the nose gear would intrude into the duct. And the duct looks small.

Looks like leave the gear off and catapult or hand launch. Nice covers over the aileron servos and arms, but the aileron horns are in the open.
