Pz T28 motor upgrade.

I am stuck as to which motor to purchase. Eflite power 10 or turnigy 35 36. I'm looking to go vertical also add some speed to this plane. Do I need to upgrade batteries as well. Or should I just purchase a completely different plane. This hobby is far to addicting.

I have both motors and either motor will do the trick. I like the power delivery a bit better on the 3536c. It seems to have better torgue down low compared to the p10 imo. I would get a 40 amp esc or better yet a 60 amp esc. I use 2200 Turnigy 25c packs. The stock 1800mah wont cut it. I also like the 10x7 apc prop. The 11x7 has crazy pulling power but does pull alot more juice. So overall I like the 10x7 for battery life and performance.

Actually switching props on the stock motor can yield more pitch speed and thrust, resulting in more power without drawing any more amps. I'd try an APC 10x8E on there

I actually did switch to an APC prop. Huge difference. I'm starting to get comfortable with the speed of the plane or the motors taking a dump on me but going vertical is what I'd really like to be able to do. Its cool to see. I've been leaning more toward eflite being I can get that right around the corner. I also thougt about putting in a different battery than the stock ones I'm currently running. I also painted the plane aircraft grey I don't know if that's weighed it down some but it seems a bit slower

Lots of great stuff from HK, besides the occasional dead cell in a battery

And if you want vertical, then slap a GWS 11x7HD prop on it. It'll give you about the same speed, but another member calculated it'll give 2:1 thrust to weight on a T-28

On my blog, I'll be posting a T-28 head-to-head (flying + installed static thrust tests) using:

Stock motor
E-Flight Power 10
Turnigy 35-36C
Super Tigre ST .10

...as soon as $69 shipping gets the Turnigy motor here. It changed from Processing to Shipped yesterday, 6 days after I placed the order. The international shipping company's tracking system doesn't seem to work.

Format for the Installed Static Thrust tests is attached. Formulas incorporate the weight of the plane, motor and prop in each calculation.

Here's what I'm thinking for the scoring system.

I would like some input, particularly on the weightings and how to figure the upgrade price.

That's very cool. I'm interested to see the numbers. For now I think I'm going to run a high output battery. 20c or maybe a 30c. I seen a video of a guy running a 30c. Motor seemed to wake up a bit.

Even the visual inspection at (partial) box opening was interesting, to geeks like me, anyway. Blogged a little about it.

What do you guys think about putting a Power 25 on a T28/Corsair?

Since a "quickie" produced interesting results that were not inline with the visual inspection, I didn't want to leave it sitting like that. Here is a very quick, installed power test...

I have a power 25 on T28D and Messerschmitt... it is a great motor, never an Issue. I was running it on my corsair for a little while but have gone even a bit crazier to a power 32 on that one cause it can handle a substantial greater amp load. If interested let me know and I'll pm you a few vids of the power 25 in the corsair/t28 on both 3S and 4S with various different props.... have a ton of vids on youtube. Or just search IEATSRT on youtube and you'll find me. I can pull about 700 Watts at a safe amp rating 45-47 for the power 25 burst specs. A 3 blade MAS 11x8x3 is a great prop for power 25 with 30C 4S to give you right around 700 watts. if 2 blades is your thing an APCe 12x8 is a great prop for the corsair. 11x8 is good for the T28 on same combo but wouldn't go bigger than 11" with T28 or you might be scraping your props on landings. If your planning on going 4S you'll need at least a 60 amp esc. Staying 3S 45 amp esc should do. I made my own motor mounts also with all the extra power, don't know if I would trust stock. Also you'll want to move your battery farther back to get balance.

I plan on staying with 3S 2200mah, can't afford new batteries.

So a Power 25 with a 45amp ESC and say an APC-E 11x7? Does that sound like an OK setup? Can I still stay up for at least 7+ minutes, as long as I don't go WOT the whole time, of course?
