I would not maiden the plane with the CG that far back. Looks like you will need a bit more weight up front (maybe some thin lead placed under the motor itself??). If you can get the CG to around 84 mm, you would probably be good to go with the maiden flight.

By the way, I would be interested to learn how the Mega 20/30/3 works-out. I had considered that motor for my HA.

Forest the Mega 20/30/3 wanted to pull the High Aspect right out of my hands pointing straight up....that with a 13x8 prop

Its looks like 5mm on the back side of the CG is ok....I have been thinking about putting some big holes in the horizontal stabilizer and as you can see ever thing is up front.

That might work, but why not try it with the extra weight in the nose. You may very well like the way that it performs, even if it is a bit heavier. Putting holes in the h-stab is always an option for later.

I agree with Forest Flyer. Determine how much additional weight you need on the nose (over motor) to get a middle of range CG. Then make up three or four smaller pieces with that same total weight and tape them on the outside of the nose. Fly it and then see what happens if you remove one, then two, etc. You should be able to determine when you are at the max rear CG BEFORE it becomes hard to control. Then tape/glue shot or whatever in the nose.

Would hate to see holes in that stab.

Well by moving the receiver pack up front ...I got it to balance right at the 82mm CG.Andy I don't know how much weight was needed before I switched motors...about 58grams...up front? Wayne it look like I will be coming down when the weather gets nice.

Before my wife gave me my scale, I would take components (motor, battery, etc) to the Post Office and use their scale (self service). Never questioned, but was always prepared to say I was checking weight in preparation to packaging and shipping.

Watch out for fishing scales, they ALWAYS read high!
