It may make it fly worse depending how much power stock really is. I have never flown one of the 50mm models stock so not sure if there is any excess power or if they need WOT to fly around. If they need WOT all the time to fly then narrowing may make it fly worse.

Smaller nozzles reduce low speed thrust but maintain thrust at higher speed. So large diameters give more low speed thrust but less top speed, smaller gives less low speed thrust but higher top speed. I fly these 50mm models on ~350 watts so I have plenty of power even when the nozzle is reduced so I get the top speed. I have no idea if the stock setup will work that way or not.

thanks Don

EDF noob here obviously lol

I was pondering cutting out 1/2 or less.

BUT

if it reduces thrust at low speeds, then it may be even more of a bitch to hand launch.

something to consider definately.

Although; I am running 6 blade fan on 4S ... so.. who knows

Don

So, I removed 1/2 inch of foam from the exhaust (same way you did), and also reduced intake by 3/8 of an inch and it flies

Not exactly sure how much quicker, but it seems to be faster nonetheless.

Question:

How long of a flight time would you get on a 1000 mah 40C 40S lipo if WOT?

I know nothing about the stock power system and the watts/amps it uses so no idea how long it will fly.

That setup will work. Just watch the outlet on this model as it is huge and needs to be reduced and mine had CG issues due to lots in tail incidence so check for that as well.
