Multiplex was already well into the foamie marked when the company was sold to Hitec:

Most of the glider production however was outsourced to Tangent, which was taken over by Graupner.

Bajora ... as I understand it. Hitec and Multiplex are ownd by the same person/company. They operate separately of each other in their business and some markets. HitecRCD is the representative in the U.S. for MultiplexUSA.

http://www.hitecrcd.com/index.html

At the top right is the MultiplexUSA link. HitecRCD manages that product line in the U.S.

Of course I may be mistaken about this also, but that is what has been mentioned to me and others on these forums.

Actually, and as was originally detailed long long ago.the owner of Hitec, bought MPX. So that Hitec & MPX we're owned by the same breathing person yet remained two individual companies.
It is quite possible that arrangement has changed.
Tangent reported that they had been a contractor for MPX's foam/balsa sailplane/glider products long before MPX dropped those products.
Tangent then bought the product line and continued production (as well as buying up remaining stock for continued sales).
My observation is Tangent only did flight surfaces as there was no evidence of fuselage molding ever going on in Amstetten.
What I understand of Graupner is that Graupner markets (sells) the Tangent produced products.Who knows, maybe Tangent makes the Graupner kits now also.At one time Blue Angel used Tangent wings/tails for their product line also.
And so the plot thickens,or ..... curses! Foiled again!

Great info, Jay. Thanks for sharing that.
It helps when knowing to whom we should address our angry "we want the Sonic Liner back!" mail.

Well...funny you should ask...since youre in the US too, you might have noticed that they're scarce.

Check out the discussion on the idea of a clone at the link below and please excuse the petty arguments. your input is welcome.

that makes it easy

So now we just have to buy the rights from multiplex and have them make the models.

Anyone have a spare 100k € ? (just a guess )

those wings are foam core

Way before foam became popular AGAIN (graupner had a foamy in the 60's) It was very common to have balsa (or abachi) sheeted FOAM wings.
So all those gliders are part foamy's
