Design view - 3D model

Did a 3D drawing of a simple fuselage built in 3 sections, with a cockpit also made from simple cylindrical surfaces. to test the appearance of the thing.

Looks semi - scale enough

No it's not the Saab, just a simple jet.

This looks promising;

PowerUp - Electric Paper Aeroplane Conversion Kit (2 min 40 sec)

Weight must be about 7g or so? A proper jet plane fuselage could be attached and the prop is small enough not to show or fit inside.

Looks like extreme light weight is the answer, looks like. Paper can be used after all...

Looks like limits are 30 grammes weight with a 40 cm span, about the same as for rubber power. If I can find a motor, batt and EDF to fit within this weight it will fly otherwise I am sunk.

Hi,
This drawing was once a very popular caricature of the "Barrel" [i.e. "Tunnan"].
There was also a kit available, obviously a display model, which included a pre-turned barrel a.s.o.....

Here are some scans from Wentzel's catalogue of 1950....

What is the advertisement about? A non flying model?

The Tunnan - I can't imagine that thing doing any aerobatics- loops, rolls except for - BARREL ROLLS - sorry I could not resist. With lots of wing area should have handled nicely, most early jets have big wings.

Speaking of cartoons - have you seen the cartoon Mig 15 and Cartoon Sabre - they use a large prop inside an even larger fuselage :

So maybe a pusher model as some have suggested would be a better bet. Something like a Vampire where the centre of thrust if there is such a thing is closer to the one in the real thing - somehow that seems important.
