You'll need to reenforce the eyes at the corners by hand. Twist the lines so they cross and stitch round and round through the corner of the sail and through the eye - nice and tight. Put a dab of fabric glue, CA, or hot-glue to hold it.

The problem with machine stitching bolt ropes is that the thread does not go through the bolt rope, but around it - so the bolt rope can be pulled through the stitching.

as you can see in the previous pictures, the rope off the sewingmachine is going in the rope and not around.

They do have a "HEY LOOK AT ME!" quality to them
You don't need them, but even with them the loops need to be seized to the sail better.

i can paint them in the same color as the rope ,then the don't have that

I'm afraid that the "rope eyes" on the corner are going to be cut when the ropes moves a lot.

when you think that doesn't happen, then i need no eyeletts.

I can't imagine having to worry about chafe there unless you're running something with an edge through it.

The attached illustrates the suggested reinforcing of the eyes - even if you use grommets/eyelets

oke, then i don't do the eyeletts and stich the eye like your attached thumbnail.

No words for this...But I think I will give this vessel a shot when I'm done with the San Juan, witch is right now making me feel VERY sheepish :-)

The only scratchbilding I've ever done was for my geology projects (if someone has an interest, I'm happy to share what little knowledge I have), but this might actually help me learn, the hard way, how to do it!

my sails are finished but i must iron them and take a picture but the weather is beautifull here and everething is on hold.
