Radio Shack Golden arrow control board

Hey,

I picked up a radio shack golden arrow RC at a garage sale and it sorta works!
I tested it, and found that there is a burnt lead on the control board. This lead controls the signal that makes the wheels turn. I can jump it witha wire and the back wheels spin.

I'm no circuit board repair guy though, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a place to find a replacement board? Or an upgrade board?

Thanks,
Stoddmi

A guy at our local RC hobby shop made the same suggestion. However, the parts came out to around 80 dollars, and I have about 5 bucks invested into this. Also, I'm pretty much an RC novice at this point.

Do you think it would be worth it, or would it make more sense to just buy a new kit?

Thanks!

$80.00 Are you kidding me.

If you found a good used AM radio with servo's you could save even more money.

You could get all of this stuff for around $65.00 .Look on the for sale section of the board you might find something.

$65, $80 ..... what's the difference.

The kid spent 5-bucks on a car and is in over his head if he thinks he can go RCing for another $5 or $10... and obviously hasn't checked out prices on any real RC cars.

More than anything, I find it amusing he found this forum

i used to have a modded golden arrow and it was a hoot! very easy to modify to run on hobby grade radio gear. i bet the guys down at your local shop could give you a few pointers. if you decide to sell it, they usually go for 50 to $60 on ebay.

So the Hitec agressor comes with the steering servo and the radio receiver?
If so, that seems like a solid deal.

Thanks,
Stoddmi

No problem! keep us posted on your progress post some pictures of the install. Show us how you got the radio and servo's in and how you brought the old girl back to life. Great find at the garage sale.

i know some of the plastic bushings can be replaced with bearings too which is nice. ive also herd that the pinion gear used in the golden arrow can be replaced with a 17 tooth 32 pitch hobby grade pinion gear.

That's pretty cool!
Do you remember what year they came out?
I lucked out, and got mine with the original packaging and manual.
Tower has the controller on back order so I think I may check ebay.
I think I will also get an esc that does reverse.

Do you guys think the stock motor will be okay with the new components?
