That was the 84 body style, 460 based engine, C6 trans 9" rear , of course not by any means stock. It would take a book to write what was really in there
It would lift the wheels maybe 4-6 inches and run consistant mid 10's, and has run in the 9s when conditions were right, they always shut me down when it hit the 9s as I never got my license to run under 10 .
Last compettion I ran was the Citrus Nationals at Moroso park in West Palm Bch. Fla. I made it to the quarter finals in super pro out of a 500 car field.
I sold it to a man in Texas that was running bracket in AHRA and made it to 2nd place for the southeast region.
I hope its still out there having fun

Nice pics! Love the '68 XL! Reminds me of my high-school days. I owned a candy-apple-red '66 LTD w/390 HiPo during my sophomore & junior years back in '72 & '73. It was a fully-decked battle-cruiser with A/C & power everything. Not much of a racer, but it was pretty good chick-magnet.
It's been quite awhile since I've been to the track with my '87 GN. I never really figured out how to launch the car properly. Best I ever ran at the track with it was a 12.76 @ 106 MPH with a miserable 2.2 sec 60'. That was on 275/50/15 BFG Radial T/A street tires. On a cool, dry fall day, she can do 0-60 MPH in 3.9 sec on the street when she hooks. I never could get her to hook like that at the track, though. But then, the nickname for the local track was "the slippery rock". Might have had something to do with it, I suppose...
Aside from a few bolt-ons, she's a numbers-matching, well-kept original with 193k on the clock. Original paint, wheels, upholstery, and the engine has never been unbuttoned. The only internal engine-work I've done so far is a set of LT1 valve springs @ 100k & a double-roller timing-chain & gears @ 130k. At over 190k, it could use some freshening-up. Have an old 280 out west with almost a half a million miles. Got it for free needed a fuel pump to get it going. Cars are just cool, thats all there is to it. Not a very hot ride with the old six cyl... Thanks for posting the real hot rides here!

Pyrobus, I worked for M-B for 18 years, and yep , those M110 engines seemed to run forever. I just hated adjusting the valves on them
