I don't see why waypoints wouldn't work everywhere but I'm not entirely sure. I haven't heard of it not working anywhere.

So can i just get a 7805 from like radio shack?

If you go to the "bins" they will have it there under "Regulators". You are better off picking it out yourself. It's a very common part.

unless you want to build a flying hot glue gun

but 150mA over a 7v drop is not going to get anywhere as hot as a 1A rated 7805 with 1A over a 7v drop.

You could also get a 7808 and step it down to 8 V before you step it down with the 7805.

I tried to power my DOSD+ V1 with filtered 5V from a BEC as recommended earlier to eliminate some lines in my video. Sadly, this did not fix the problem as well. I guess I will have to live with it for now.

In the process of trouble shooting, I smoked my 2.4GHz 500mW VTx in the process.

I "borrowed" our other airplane's VTx. Fortunately, I did not damage anything else.

So, anyone in the US have a 500mW or 200mW Lawmate VTx who'd care to part with it? If so, pls send me a PM.

If I don't find one soon. I think I'm going with a 5.8 system for "club" use.

Why would you try to provide filtered 5V for the OSD? I think that is too low for comfort, filtered 12V is what you should be powering the DOSD with. If you have a 5V camera or VTx is where the 5V comes in, but you should consider the BEC to be dirty power and only use for the RC control if possible. Some switching BEC's are better than others. I switched over to the 7805 linear regulator circuit to provide clean 5V to my 5V VTx. Sorry to hear about the VTx and hopefully somebody has one they want to part with.

I have a 5 V camera and VTx. I was trying to power all video gear off one BEC.

This could be an opportunity. Maybe I'm going to equip one bird with 5.8 so that I can fly at the local field where 2.4 Radios just clobber the video.

Any reason why the DOSD is less reliable with 5V?
