I'm abroad for a week. It's going to be the most expensive trip ever due to data charges on my phone as i keep checking page 1 every 5 minutes.

Alex I would have had rvosd but it and/or its sensors have been out of stock for about 6 months and I think dosd+ is imminent and better value.

Which is a good GPS, indeed. And the price in the same ballpark 30-40$

Would be good to know how many people want to buy Dragon OSD Plus?

To know whether or not I can sleep until they are on sale

In Romania, for instance, 2 people want to buy: me and Renatoa, as far as I know.

Just checking something. The thing going on special now (or soon) is just the main controller. No GPS, and no sensors. So - on it's own, it doesn't do anything? You need to buy a separate GPS module and current sensor?

Sure it does, at least baterry voltage.
And you can buy a good GPS for $35, see link posted previous page. Or a cheaper one, but not junk, from sparkfun, with $20. Either case, you must do your own cabling and soldering.
Current sensor is not offering in this package, anyway, it features the connections for a current sensor from other vendor, there are several on the market.

Thanks RENATOA.
I'm fearful of soldering things... I can do Deans connectors, and solder wires together. After that, there's too much of a chance of my personal injury, or catching the house alight, or something. Also, I shake like a leaf!

Sorry for the OT but since there has been some discussion about GPS antennas....

Is there a software program and USB interface to directly hook a GPS antenna module to a computer USB port for testing puposes?

Thanks

galaxiex,

The software varies with the GPS chipset. If you're using an MTK chipset GPS such as the LS20033 or LS20031, then the following will work:-

The Flytron GPS module uses the MediaTek so the above software should work?

Now what about the cable? Do I just hook straight to USB + - tx rx?

Thanks

Hey JettPilot, have you tried the RTH yet with DOSD + your FMA copilot ? (or even without)
Asking especially on your unstable wing (the zephyr) ^^

I'm wondering if its going to be good enough

ps: anyone else being a dosd tester might reply as well, but include the kind of plane and if gyro or FMA is used please, thks! (video is best xD)

Yes, the Dragon OSD can return to home without video
can you confirm this ? o.O (eg you lose video signal, or cable get lose, or w/e)

I use it in conjunction with a FMA copilot,
just wondering if that means you can plug the FMA sensors into DOSD and it's going to use it for stabilization and RTH (which is probably much better), or if you just have FMA running side by side

Hi jimbob,

Yes, the DragonOSD+ (as well as the older DragonOSD) both use the same autopilot algorithm and both will RTH without video (which is the whole point of this). You do have to set it up correctly and test that it works though.

well JettPilot says its pointless to return without video :P i've read some OSDs can't return when they lose the video signal for some technical reason.
Anyway, thanks for the reply as usual

I haven't used that one but have tried the EB85 and LS20033. There are two free popular PC software programs available. The MiniGps that Daniel mentioned and one called GPSFox for which a link can be found on Digital Products web site. With either progran you need a TTL to 232R-3v3 cable to connect the module to a computer USB port. I have used both programs with the EB85 module but neither will connect to my LS20033. I think the LS20033 may need a special evalution board to make the connection. DPC also sells a board for that purpose.
