Is RealFlight 5 more realistic than RF 3.5?

All,

I have RF 3.5 and while the planes are pretty, I dont find it to be very realistic especially when it comes to landing planes. In 3.5 you can slow the plane down so much that you can land in a 2' space with no rollout. Not exactly real. My planes would fall out of the sky if I slowed them down that far. I have the same deal with Phoenix. Great for heli's... not so much for planes. My challenge with real planes is always getting them back on the ground on our very short runway (260 feet).

I want to upgrade to RF5 but dont want to spend the money if it is just prettier planes and fields but not any more realistic than 3.5 I dont want to upgrade.

Has anyone had both 3.5 and 5 who can tell me if 5 is more realistic in flight/landing aspects?

Thanks,

dave

I had 3.5 then 4.5 then went and got 5. you know there really is'nt much difference. Ok the rendering (big deal) ok the on line flight combat (big deal) if only I could get mine to work. Yes you have more camera positions like cockpit with being able to turn your head left and right, looks of a canopy and gauges. Does that stuff really help with learning and stick time or does it turn RF into more of a game instead of a trainer.
If I had to do it all over again I would have just stayed with 3.5 and saved some money.
Just my 2 cents.

Sincerely,
Karl in Colorado

After getting ripped on the upgrade, I went to Cleariew. You cannot beat the price. I think the physics are quite good. YMMV And it uses my realflight controller

Unfortunately that is what I was figuring.... prettier but not really something that will help me be a better pilot.

Thanks for the replies. Think I will stick with 3.5 and Phoenix and see if I can maybe add something that makes me work harder at landings - wind, servo failures or something.

Thanks again,

dave
