Mopar helped develop that mount by working closely with Gary....and Mopar did all of the flight testing and gave various feedback to Gary for optimizing of that mount.

It is the VERY best Stryker mount EVER!!!!!!

Many of us have multiple Stryker mounts.
One of mine is bolted to a test stand.

Sometime after initial release Gary was able to drop the price by reducing his CNC machining costs. He then decided to refund that difference in price to every person who had previously bought the mount.
Gary is a standup guy.

Gryphon
sounds like he's a great guy. doing a lot of good things for the hobby! thanks to mopar as well. it definitly is a first class mount. quality is superb.

TESTORS, plastic model paint. THE BEST paints to use with foam. doesnt eat foam, covers very well, & adds practicly no weight. took me awhile to find the perfect paint for foam, and its TESTORS. & no, none of these models have been glassed.

Got to 215.0mph today!

Yup, 194mph on the level, (with the wind), 215mph in a good dive, not a monster dive. More props coming for testing, will try for 200 in the level. Handles very, very nice, no issues. Not too many have I seen go this fast, (no matter how they got there). Just under 3.4 pounds, (54.3 ounces)
  • Motor: Turnigy 3659 1900kv SK3 Fandrive
  • Propellers: APC 6.5x6
  • Controller: SS Hobbyking Series 190-200A ESC
  • Servos: HS-5085MG, (overkill maybe, required a bit of cutting to fit well)
  • Rx: AR600, (one antenna forward into the fuse, the other in the fuse along the side and out under the wing).
  • Battery: Lipo Turnigy 6s Nanotech 2700mah 65/130C, (just fits)
  • Battery connections: HXT 4mm, (I have the castle 5.5mm, 6.5mm, did not use just yet)
  • Rx Battery: Hyperion LIPO 350mah, 2S, 25/50C
  • Rx Regulator: Voltron 6V 10A

Mod's
  • Epoxy, no CA
  • Carbon horns, taller, stronger. (Tied in with carbon rod, topped with carbon plate, all epoxied).
  • 2-56 control wires, (much bigger/stronger than stock.
  • Z-bend on one end, L-bend with retainer on the other end.
  • Metal motor mount, (I think plastic would be fine, but I had the metal one).
  • Cut small slots into the fuse sides to fit battery strap flush and not bow the fuse when battery is installed.
  • Replace stock Velcro and strap with OEM Velcro
  • Cooling added for ESC, (above ESC)
  • Gorilla Tape on bottom for landing
  • 3M Grip tape for launching.
  • Epoxy filled above the wing carbon tube, for strength and drag.
  • Taped both sides of hinge line with fiber tape.
  • 3 piece turtle deck, magnets to hold on center piece.
  • Cooling holes in front of motor, (Carbon tube cut at 45 on both ends, epoxied in)
  • 6 pieces of 1mm carbon rod x 4 inches pushed into rear foam before gluing plastic motor mount, (adds no weight and a LOT of strength).
  • Taper lower part of vertical fins into wing, (less drag in air and on grass).
  • Used glider servo covers, (no binding, needed for taller horns).
  • Hogged out foam to fit motor and improve cooling.
  • Hogged out some foam under canopy to fit battery.
  • 3mm x .7mm carbon on back of all horizontal surfaces, (CA'ed, then CA filled, then sanded).
  • 2 coats Rustoleum paint, 2 coats spray shellac.

215mph Funjet Ultra Very Fast (3 min 39 sec)

I"d like to run something by you. I run a 2700kv six series 6x4 sport on 4s. I have a 2650kv outrunner edf motor that runs on 4s but the guys have been having great success with it on 5s with there edf"s. My question is can i put a prop on it an go to 5s an have more power than my six series i run now? kv x volts shows allmost 20,000 more rpm but i don"t know if the outrunner makes the power the inrunner does. I don"t know much about motors, i just like to go fast.

Why not just put on a 6x5.5 prop on your 4 cell 2700 setup ?
You can run 5 cells with your outrunner, but your prop size probably wont be ideal, and you will make alot of power, you just wont have the thrust to take advantage of all of your power.

Your 2700 could also run on 3 cells with a 6.5x6.5 prop.

You sure about that 20,000 more RPM ?

The RPM's really picked up on the 215mph run! I have 1 more prop, then that's it for this bird. Everything temp wise is still good, but not sure how much more I should push a foam plane with no glassing and foam hinges.......

I've had a half a dozen Six series motors on Pylons....they can't take abuse...they will burn...at least mine did...that was several years ago...both 2200 and 2700KV..Stay to Specs....or they will heat up......

Unless they've changed ....don't go over specs.....Billy

Mopar you know me i"m not sure about anything, here"s how i figured it.
six motor 2700x11.1=29,700
edf motor 2650x18.5=49,025
Oh i see what i did now, i compaired a 3s to a 5s
2700x14.8=39,960 thats only 9,065 increse in rpm not 20,000
thanks for keeping me straight,
I could try the 6x5.5 on 4s an the 6.5x6.5 on 3s or i could just ask you which would be faster? thanks for your time an help. david

I think they would be about the same on a straight and level run.
The 3 cell 6.5x6.5 would probably appear faster to you due to the superior acceleration of the 6.5" prop ................... and both setups are right at the point where you should use throttle controll and check motor temps to be sure your ambient air temps dont cook anything.

Pitch speeds are just about the same, so its really a choice of preference for you. Please just remember to make sure of the motor temps, the FJU has less cooling than the plane I tested my six series motors on.

Billy,
Do you remeber cell count and prop size related to each motor when they burned ?
