I get everything delivered to work or my rent house these days.

You gotta be crafty around the wifey.

I maidened my new Funjet yesterday. IT was nice.

Went with my [B]4S/HET 2W-30/APC 7x5 sport setup

I also got a chance to try out my new 65C TP pack. Came down cool. I will take it easy on it for the first few flights. But I should have plenty of head room now.

Did you recharge the same pack, or do you have 2 different packs?

I like the cell size that you are using....They are holding pretty good voltage under load (at least for now).

Also looks like you are only using 50-60% of pack capacity before landing. I'm sure your packs love you for it.

Consider adding throttle position to your logged data options.
Seeing higher voltage together with lower power and RPM from 570-575 second time period made me want to see if you were at full throttle or not...but it was not logged.

If you have 6.5X6.5 fly with it before 7X6 just so you can compare speeds and motor temps besides the data from ICE files.

Also consider posting your static data from 7X6 before flight (Read data from 1-2 second after initial meaningless peak AMP spike).
Start at with motor at room temp and do a 3 second test.
If you fly with 7X6 first, land after 2-3 passes and check motor temp to start getting an idea of what you can do.

At higher power levels compared to todays flight, use more throttle control and/or gliding around inbetween your full throttle single passes.

You better have heat sink and make sure motor's air passages are not blocked by motor mount.

Have fun,

Gryphon
Dont have any other prop on 6.5, do have a 7x5 and 7x6. But Ill be careful and using throttle control

Recharged the same pack. Yes it is a good pack, true 40C for the whole pack.

Will add throttle position data on the ICE for future flights, dont know why I dont have it.

Will do a static test first.
Heatsink is mounted and remember that Im in Sweden and Im flying in the evening. Yesterday we had like 16C (60F) in the air. I have the regular smallpartscnc mount but have ordered the Mega 16 mount for better airflow.

Thanks!

What numbers are you getting with this setup? How's the torque roll? Crashed the freakin enigma on a bad launch......debating on whether to build it again.....maybe put it on variable throttle to launch...

Did you get to run any high load 3S props before the crash?
Any 7X7 sport passes?

Gryphon

I was sticking to the 6.5 x 6.5 APC. I maidened the rebuilt motor on a Gaupner of the same size, and then tried the APC after that. This time the APC seemed to perform better than the Graupner, maybe the old motor was struggling more than I/we realised when I said the Graup seemed as good for less amps. Flight before the crash with a fair amount of WOT and crusing had the motor at about 28c after landing. Thought I'd cooked it last week but turns out it was too much cruising and I took too much out of the pack and it was dropping into LVC under load.

Just in case I order another soon, I've taped the FJU up and hung it back in it's normal place. At least the wife won't notice it's missing.

Carbon rod could be an option, although I have another 'plan' for the next one.....

Feefo, the carbon rod is a proven method of reducing the nose from breaking off, I've crashed and built more FunJet Ultras than anyone else on this thread, so I know what works. Just my 2 cents

FCA

Glassing, using carbon fiber cloth, or "the heat treatment" will not prevent the nose from breaking off

Use at least a 5mm thick wall cf rod

Motor rated for 1100W and 70A max.

With a good battery, you are likely close to 1100W now.

New Required Power = Old Power (New Speed/Old Speed)**3

145/138 = 1.051

1.051 cubed is 1.161

1.161*1100W = 1277W.

Doable, in bursts, with good cooling, (fins and cooling holes).

Calculator says

6x5 = 1090.
6x5.5 = 1152.
6.5x6.5 = 1480.

6.5x6.5 will have to be quick 1-2 second bursts. Go high, let her scream WOT for 5 seconds and watch for the white smoke.

Hey bud, I have the 2W-25, but it has sat on the shelf ever since I picked up the 2W-30.

If you are going for 4S or 5S, I would definitely look into the 2W-30.

I flew mine today, and remembered that I am using a P125, so I don't have data logger. I can pull some static numbers for you if you are interested.

I am still spinning a 7x5 sport, but I am feeling pretty good about trying a 7x6 even in the heat.

--Run a 4s 3000 minimum

--Your at the limit of what the 2w25 will put out. Upgrade the motor and battery

I will do some static tests tomorrow and post with APC 7x5, 7x6 sport.

Torque roll is the usual, nothing to worry about, just make sure your cg is close.

Today I got 2 flights in. I threw out my arm playing softball, so my throws are junk right about now. It doesn't take a big toss

In fact, I will take some vid this weekend of the 2W-30 in action. I will make sure and get the launch on vid too.

Static 16/40/1.5S on APC Sport 7x6

Finally balanced my 7x6 prop and did two static tests. Same battery with no recharge between.
Ive attached the file for anyone hows interested.

The amps peaked at 113A and then dropped down to 100A before I shut off.
The voltage dropped all the way to 17.4, but it should rise a little when the prop unload in the air.

I dont think this will be any problem for the motor. If I look at my last flight the amps should drop to about 90A.

Will hopefully fly it tomorrow and maybe shoot a doppler video to see what speed I have with this prop.
