You can always extend or replace the wires when you need them longer. Why haul unnecessary weight around.

I would have shortened the cables on my battery pack already, but I hate soldering 4mm² cables to the MPX M6 connectors.

I know what you mean, but I intend to move this ESC around to all my planes for logging of the set up, so I'm keeping the wires for the summer.

Jurgen, you stated that the tuning set was pulling 80A on the bench with the recommended prop, but Multiplex are recommending a 70A ESC in the promotional video and the instructions. Does the motor unload by such an amount (10+ AMPS) when in the air, or was there some error in your readings?
The reason I'm asking is because I plan to fit the tuning motor and a 85A ESC into my standard (classic?) Funjet. If the motor really does run at 80A WOT then I may have to find a larger ESC.

An error in the readings is rather unlikely, as I have checked a second FJ Ultra last weekend - same figures.

If that is the case, shouldn't Multiplex be warning customers about this issue and uprating the ESC to at least a 90A unit? Or have they already done that.

80A through a 70A ESC on a regular basis is not good practise in anyone's book!

Well, comparing weights and dimensions of the 70A ESC as advertised with the real figures, it looks like MPX has already added a big heatsink to the ESC.

I was actually more worried about the MPX M6 connectors, which are rated 40A/60A peak, but it looks like all figures are "conservative" - unlike some cheap chinese products.

I have read about a guy running a CC 75 ICE Lite at 145.8A.

I am waiting for the Funjet Ultra. I have looked for the dimensions of the himax C 3514-2980 motor. Can someone tell me what this is please? I have not decided between getting the stock power or putting one together. Looks like a 35mm diameter? Thanks.

Correct, the motor is 35mm diameter and the kv is actually not 2980, but 2900.

Maidened my FJ Ultra today with 4 LiPos instead of 6 (max voltage). It flew straight out of the hand of my assistant. No torqueroll and no trimming needed.
The speed was relatively low due to low voltage, but behavior was excellent. I was surprised by the way it would glide. I expected a glide like 1:1, but it was more like 1:50. I had problems landing this thing as it would overshoot the airfield several times before I finally got it down on the grass. The battery was a Flightpower 4 cell, 3700 mAh. Rather heavy, but I didn't notice any problems.
This is a great plane. Next is a FPV mod as I intend to fly it FPV only.
