I am not a big fan of the HXT2835 series. The efficiency is rather low. The 2835-2700 would be better suited than the 3900kv version, as you can use a bigger prop.

Yes I understand that Jurgen. The only limitation being prop size. Since I already have the motor and APC 4.5 x 4.1 in stock I guess trying it before going for any other motor is prudent. What power combo (motor / prop / ESC) will you recommend most suited for Funjet.

Thanks

There is no such thing like "best suited". I have four FunJets now (incl. the Ultra) and they all use different drives and have their pros and cons. It all comes down to personal preferences and last but not least availability and affordability.

True Jurgen. So after I test with the existing 3900 Kv motor and 4.5 x 4.1 setup, I guess I should move to 2835 - 2700 with a 5 x 5 or 6 x 4 prop... right?

Funjet forum must be one the longest in the history of RC planes I guess.... Too many quotes

A simple question... What motor is recommended which can handle 3S and 4S Lipo since I have both power packs and with drive 6 inch prop?

Thanks

This thread is about the FunJet Ultra. Why not post your question in the FJ thread?

A motor like the MEGA 16/15/4 or the MEGA 16/25/2 suit 3S and 4S applications. You need to change the prop size of course.

In terms of top speed and especially duration , the car wins. But as far as acceleration goes, the FunJet is a clear winner here.

Just came back from the flying field - with a big grin on my face.

Replacing that APC-E 6x5.5" by a Graupner Speed 6x5.5" really made a noticeable difference. I am a happy camper now.

Got tired of waiting for my ESC to come back from service, so I bought myself a new one today. This is a Castle Creations Phoenix ICE 100. Think it should do the job. Also nice to have data logging of rpm, temperature, battery ripple, power output, current and voltage
My new propeller adapter should be here tomorrow, and this project will soon be airborne

I would have shortened the wires between ESC and motor.

Naw dont shorten the wires. I mean it would look clean and good, but you never know what project down the road u may need the Phoenix for.

Again Jurgen nice pics man!! The Ultra looks wicked fast. Does your car do well over 150mph? I thought the Funjet would win in top speed? I know for sure accelearation. NO crotch rocket bike could beat a wing nor a funjet ultra.
