I was reading the EXI-500 thread. A lot of guys decided they liked the 500 so much, they no longer own 450's. I do get it to a point but with 450's becomming crazy cheap on motors, batteries, etc, owning a 450 makes more sense than ever right now. It's almost to the point where if you crash a 450, it's almost cheaper to buy a whole new airframe and servos. The T-Pro servos only cost a nominal $3ea and are reliable so are not worth replacing gear sets if they strip.

My 500 is my favorite by all means. It's so much more stable and has much more power than a 450. But I don't plan on junkin' my 450's. Once you get yours flying and a bunch of packs under your belt. You may change your tune. LMAO!

The only drawback to the 500 for me is LACK of choices for doing scalers. You got Airwolf (who cares), and the MD500's. Not much choice, NO Bell 206's either....sux. In the heli market, 500's are still sort'a new. But the choice of scalers for the 600 are GOOD, and they're newer than the 500's.

Evening there Vic,

Since you told me you have the metal frames I wanted to tell you with 100% certainty you can cut them down to the spec's I showed you that I did my CF frame to fit the 3,000 packs and they slip right in. My daily fly buddy has a EXI 500 and did it and flies near daily when we fly.
I know the 3000 pack sitting in my heli looked huge to you but they are not, they make a nice fit.

Next the battery issues. Here are the 3000s I use in both of my 500's. You might notice that one is a 35-45C and the other is a 40-50C rated pack. I get whats on sale when I can. That little bit is negotiable and....... I fly the SNOT out of my 500's I am here to tell ya those packs are the only way to go.

Here is a close up my 5000 packs I use in the 600's. They are 40-50C discharge.

I hope that might clear up some of you worries of what will work or not.

JPEE

Here's some 500 fuselages, some are pretty pricey though. They do have a 109.

Actually the 600 came out before the 500, kind of backwards, but that's what Align did.

The 600 was released 5/2006, and the 500 released 12/2007.

Vic,

The nice thing about RC Aerodyne site I posted, is they stand behind their product and have great customer service, Cliff is the guy to talk to if you ever have a problem with them.

That's where I got the Chaos 450 and I am thrilled with it. I only have maybe 20 or 30 flights on it, but it's a nice heli. Right up there with the Trex family for sure.

I dont expect this EXI-500 to be anymore than what it is. Just like the 450's, I'll replace parts with Align as they get broke. I've never bought an EXI that was just unflyable out of the box. I agree, Aerodyne is top notch. I could REALLY get in trouble this winter with them. I see a 500 scaler comming in the not so distant future. If I do like this 500 enough, I will unload my 450's I'm thinking. If I can take off and land this 500 NOSE IN.....the 450's are GONE.

Hey...I bought a 6S/ 2650 40c, that gonna be OK?(biggest I could get....3000mAh sold out).

Your right, it is what it is. The 6S / 2640 40C will do you fine, plenty of power, and descent flying time.

Nothing going on here, just more bad weather, mostly super windy the last two days. Still fly the mcx2 and mcp x everynight though, both are a blast.
