Thanks for the feedback. Am I wrong in thinking that I can bump up, or down, pitch and throttle with the provided switches? The wind is blowing, so no real tests today.

Tim

Throttle hold is how I figured out how to fly this bird. That is the genesis of why I switched my TX grip. .

Tim,

The switch positions, IE: Normal mode, Stunt 1, and some radios have Stunt 2.

Each switch position must be programmed in the Transmitter. If you bump up or down any settings, it has to be done in the TX, associated with the switch position (normal, stunt 1 or stunt 2)... Clear as mud, right...

Look at it this way:

Your throttle stick increases or decreases the motor RPM when you are in normal flight mode. At the same time, it increases or decreases the pitch of the blades. When you hit the throttle hold switch you are essentially cutting off power to the motor but you still have pitch control using the throttle stick. No switch controls the pitch of the blades, just the throttle stick.

Hope that muddied the water for ya a bit more

What is TRULY amazing about the MCPx is the fact that it's a FLYBARLESS system AND is amazingly TOUGH. I dont even think about it being flybarless while flying it. I am seriously awestruck by the engineering that turned out right with it.

LMAO if I know I'm gonna crash and I got time, I hit the ole switch, the motor stops and the blades go straight to neutral....I got it set up that way on purpose. When it hits, not much impact at all.

a question about flight duration for the MCPX

been using 25 C [ 1S 3.7V 200mAh] and timing myself to 3:30 min. per flight . This is advise that Dave passed on, mostly to keep the consumption of the battery at 80%

I upgraded to 35C [1S 3.7V 300 mAh]

I don't know but I suspect that it would be OK to increase the flight duration but I really don't know how to measure that.

somebody that knows, please compute this for me ?

Incidentally, I am getting fantastic flights out of this heli. I have to fly in the backyard a bit after 6:00 am to avoid the HEAT and the BREEZES but the flights are truly great, just tremendously RESTRICTED DUE TO SMALL AREA in this backyard.

Rick- if you are in normal flight mode I'd think you'd be ok with about 4:30 per flight. If using idle up, stick to 4:00. I have 3 nano tech 300mah batteries on the way and plan on tryin 4:00 minutes in idle up to start. Stock battery in idle up I'm sticking to 3:30.

Keep enjoying it. You KNOW it must be a keeper if VIC is happy with it!

Know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em. The mcp X is a royal straight flush

Just remembered our buddy Jeremy used to hang out here. The one who flew his 450 off a 19 story building. Think Dave still has the pictures. Anyone hear from him at all?

Jeremy

YES JIM W
we remember old JER
he is a close neighbor of Mr. JPEE
who discovered a while back that
JER was having a bunch of setbacks
with work, income, etc and felt as
if he was forced out of the hobby.
Then his adopted puppy died and I
believe from that point on he surrendered
to discouragement.
He kept ahead of the crowd I remember
with flying.
sad

good 'ole LOOKYJ who dropped a 450 on the pavement from 20 stories high, and actually FOUND the parts !!!!

Flight report, the T-Rex part is what I thought you might have an interest in.

So here is how it went. mCPX both batteries no issues. Chatted with my buddy's mom, and the kids showed up.

Next up was the T-Rex to try and get it off the ground I have to hold the rudder full right and it is still not steady. I have to hold the right stick to the left with the trimmer buried to the left and a touch of up elevator. I skittered it around the infield and then shut it down.

Next up was my homade SU-26 profile. It flew pretty well, shocking me. It did not get a second flight as I found an elevator issue. During this flight I picked up a family of five, with the oldest boy about 3. The dad did not have gray hair, yet. I flew each plane for them with a bit of patter.

They left and I decided to shoot an Extra video. And then I flew the Yak with the camera in a different spot.

I am charging up batteries, hoping the wind chills out some.
