Jim,
I haven't heard of anything new from MS. Keep me posted on it. My wife said I could get a bad arse computer with a three screen display, yoke, throttle quad, if I didn't buy an ultralight. I have 5 years to chose...

Safety is sitting on a PC flying Jay! Go with the 3 screen display! Lost a friend last year in a homebuilt. Seems as though the wing seperated at about 1000 feet. Great guy with 2 young kids and a wife left behind. He loved to fly. Often thought about an ultralight myself but not anytime soon!

Jim...I'm thinking I'll feel a lot better cause things may get fixed this time. A couple days being down will be worth it if I feel better.

I think that colored packing tape will work great on these light balsa and ply electrics that are pre-covered. It may not be an exact color match, but it should look pretty good. If you needed a 1/2" stripe that's 2.5ft long or so, lay out a piece of 3ft long glass. Pull 3ft of tape and put it on the glass. Use a straight edge and exacto knife to cut the 1/2" stripe. Lift the tape end off the glass with a razor blade and finish pulling the stripe off the glass with fingers. Apply to the plane where needed, trim to length and press the tape down firmly. Put a SMALL film of 5min clear epoxy on the leading edge of the tape to keep it from lifting or having fuel if applicable from getting under the tape. I knew they had electrical tape in many colors, didn't know about the carton tape till today.

Jim...we had a guy out here tried to take off with an ultra light on one of the hottest days of the year (happened about 8 years ago). He got airborne but the climb rate was in the toilet cause cool air has more density than warm air. Anyway, he flew into the trees at the end of the runway and spent about 8 months in a hospital. I think the plane is sitting in a barn, hasen't been touched since. My brother in law who knows the guy that crashed told me...."you could get that plane real cheap, and the damage is minimal". Trust me....I thought about it, but I was working so much I didn't have time. The pilot made a bad decision and didn't evaluate the climb rate correctly as well as not aborting in time. I would love to BUT, it would be way cheaper to go out to the airport, and for $150, snag a ride on a cessna 150 or 170/182 for an hour. I'm SURE he'd let me drive for a while. I'm trying to talk the wife into letting me do it....it's cheaper than buying one for sure. The thing is, if I dont do it, I never will. If I die in the process, I'll have a smile from ear to ear when they pull me from it. My point...either we warm the bench or get in the game (by hook or by crook). Same with these R/C helicopters....gotta stick you neck out to move forward.
