Hey Guys,

HOT SALE "email" prices HobbyPartz for today only!
A deal on 450 Carbon Fiber Blades

http://www.hobbypartz.com/hosa3.html

JPEE

PS: Vic, I forgot to say I took "all" TT componants apart as well as the main frame bearings out of their carries and "greased them".
You guys are gonna be mad at me but...........I told you all above I needed the balls for the servos arms. Well once there at the LHS I bought the Align 520 tail servo that comes on the 450 Pro and the Align 35 amp ESC. I have a Fatuba 401 left over so I'll plug that in and my wish/goal is to make this Clone fly as good as the real thing. To back up a step, I had a Blade 400 ESC and motor I was gonna use. But then I thought it over for the above reasons and jumped off the bridge $$. The motor is new in the box for an Exceed 450 Pro and is 3500 kv. If I find there is a lack of power I'll upgrade the motor. I know I will fly it often in 3D Mode so it has to be fairly strong.

Jay- Bet you have some great stories to tell that happend with that truck. 15 years is a LOT of memories. Hope you get many more years out of it.

Rick- You always find new and neat ways to tinker. I truly wished you lived closer to me, I'd be hanging around your place an awful lot!

Vic- Hope your test went well today. Rest up and get back at that 109 tomorrow. Leave the tractor for another day too and take it easy.

JPEE- Thanks for the heads up. Right now I'm on a spending freeze. Tax time is here and I wait for the accountant to inform me where I'm at.

Kyle- Any more air time with that heli of yours? Have you tried tuning on the motor more?

Stamp/Jim- Got any flying videos of your helis you can post a link to? We like to share videos around here with each other since none of us live close enough to fly with one another.

Dave- I know your gone away for a few days so hope you and Liz are relaxing somehwere cozy.

Weather looks great for the next several days. Hoping to find some time to take the heli out. My BF 109 motor arrived at HH today, don't yet know how long it will take them to turn it around.

Here's hoping for sunny skies to all of you!

Jim

JPEE...the 3500KV will be plenty, I do question a 35a ESC since I run strictly 40a Volcano ESC's. A lot of the performance factor will come from the BATTERY...I found that out with the A-109 If you go 2200mAh-2600mAh 25c or better in c rating, you're not gonna have a problem with power or heat issues, using an 11/12T pinion, that should be enough. Don't forget, headspeed is all fine and dandy but ain't worth spit if there's NO power behind it, especially when flipping to inverted and back...you need POWER as well as headspeed.

Jim...feeling a lot better since their meds wore off....I can function again.

Vic,
Glad your feeling better and I pray the best!

JPEE,
I'm with Jim on the spending freeze. Wife and I had a talk tonight and she wants it to stop.
I convince her that slowing down would be a reasonable option. We were both smiling so it wasn't a bad thing, just something she wanted to verbalize

Jim,
I'm glad that truck can't talk

Rick,
It looked like the vibration waves were close to canceling out. Still present in the wave but not bad. I'm impressed Funny but while watching the video a thought popped into my head about a possible vibration solution. I'm going to right it down and maybe try some tests. We'll see.
It looked great though and I look forward to seeing aerial vids high above Texas

Blessings,

Jay

Vic,
Thanks for your input, I value it!

My thought was, a Blade 400 flies with a 25 amp which can get warm but I have never lost one in two years until now in this last crash where it smoked and shot fire out, really! The stock Align Pro flies a 35 amp. I asked my buddy at the LHS...... are these coming back with issues? he replied "none" have come back to "him" he could not speak for the other guys there. I understand, bigger is better on the ESC but I'll seee how this goes. If there is any problem I will throw it into my last crashed Blade 400 which comes with a 25amp so a 35 amp will be super in that heli.

Thanks JPEE

JPEE- for what it's worth; the scorpion motor in my Flasher 450 is 3600KV and I have an Align 35A ESC on it right now as my 55A scorpion blew up. With a 12T pinion, 25C 2200mah battery, both battery and ESC become warm but NOT hot. I haven't had any issues to date with this combo. I do want to get a new ICE 50 ESC for it but have been holding out for now. Running about 5 minutes in idle up and it seems happy.

Vic- Glad you are feeling better

Jay/Jim/ all you guys....thanks for the well wishing. I should be back to "normal" tomorrow.

JPEE...I think you're right, the 35 might work well enough. I was running 30a before I went to 40a, and it worked OK till I started pushing it with some hard flights, and then I got heat probs. Could have even been my batteries too, but I know the 40a ESC fixed it pretty good. Then throw the equasion of a fiberglass scale fuse with a TON of weight, the motor/ESC/batteries (2200 20c's started getting HOT. When I threw that 3000/30c in there...all heat probs gone, same motor and ESC. I want to use the TT450Pro by HK in the A-109 to eliminate BELT issues, and I'm gonna try bigger tail blades for tail authority issues. I may gain on the tail authority and it'll be better, but with all that weight, I doubt I'll eliminate it completely. Dave bought that fiberglass Bell 206, I saw a video of a guy doing mild 3D with it. I say mild because there was no thrashing because of the weight, but it was 3D. That was an education watching that video....I learned a LOT about scaler characteristics. They are what they are.....coolness factor and restricted to pretty much scale type flight.

Which ever way you go....I hope it works out fer ya.

Kyle is gonna send me a bigger set of tail blades he's got laying around....what a great guy. Now if it fails to do what I'm looking for, it'll take some of the sting out of it. Another consideration is that if I go to the TT450 and I use BIGGER tail blades...will it blow the drive gears for the tail out with stress. I EVEN thought of going to a 500 tail assembly using a diameter conversion I'll fabricate so it'll just fit right on a 450 boom. I must be going INSANE here. Hopefully, Kyle's tail blades will just fix my problem...it'll be done. When I flew it in the street the other day, I did a slow-mo touch and go. I rolled her about 4ft, and went back up....that was pretty cool.

Vic, I have searched HK and cant find the Volcano ESC's if thats where you got it. If you have time would you give me the link. I am thinking I'll pick one up and either change it later on the 450 or use it on my Blade 400, I do need one more ESC.
As always, thanks for your support.

Hi Wnuk,
Yes I have some vids. They are older but nonetheless.....here you go.
The second one is pretty bad quality. I have since mounted the camera more solidly. I know these aren't as exciting as your guys' cp vids.
These are of my Lama4

LMAO....JPEE....I don't buy EVERYTHING from HK. I suggest you buy BOTH the programming card and the ESC....makes life easier. Since I KNOW I cannot post the link here....you'll have a PM here in a few.

Jeff,
How's things at your new house?

I was going to fly my small Edge540 at a friends yesterday but the wind was blowing too hard. Ended up having an awesome meal and watching basketball.

I'm like Jim on the notification thing. I've never done it, I just check in a few times a day when I get a chance.

Blessings,

Jay
Jay ~

Just been busy, but trying to keep up here and over on the Struggling Thread on RCU... Here its harder just because of the new layout and functions and I really don't have the time to learn it all yet. Seems ok... (I hate change) LOL... Like the one gent said, it might be a step back... We'll see... Not sure where the smileys are, but imagine a happy face !
