Hi guys,

By the way, thanks to all who have responded to my questions! I have another one.. here it is:
I ordered a landing gear from cublandinggear.com. I haven't received any email response confirming if my check got there. I assume Jim is really busy making these. Anyway, assuming someday it does arrive, I don't want to install the stock gear until I get the articulated gear from Jim. Can someone here tell me how the mounting goes as far as compatability with the stock setup? Thanks!

Here's my third (and final) attempt to get a kite to tow properly behind my FunCub.

Guys I'm looking for realistic tyres (same size of original elapor wheels).. is there anything in the market ? something in soft rubber or something inflatable ?

I'm also looking for a Cub like robust landing gear that can be fitted under the FunCub.. anything available that you know ?

Thanks

Allow me to compile a few of the recent CG preferences for easy reference:

OK, so that's 65-70mm, 73mm, 70-75mm, and 70mm.
The median seems to be around 70mm, so where did the original 80mm come from?

Damn I love a simple solution.

But unfortunately, we're talking about CG, which is an absolute and only affected by battery size in the sense that the battery gets moved around to achieve the desired CG.

Almost had me fooled for a second there though ...

Mine is still in the box, but has anyone measured the chord and applied the 25% to 33% MAC (Mean Aerodynamic Chord) rule? It would be interesting to know where that falls in relation to what folks are actually balancing to.

The Fun Cub wing is rectangular (constant chord), isn't it?
Wait ... yup, just measured mine and got 225mm. 25 % of that is 56.25, and 33% is 74.25.

Right: 25 ~ 33% of the chord (225mm) = 56.25 ~ 74.25mm, which puts our experimental results in range, and the recommended 80mm somewhat out.

There are several videos of glider tows. Never seen anyone try to tow a kite. They are designed to stay in place and they would just pull the tail around.

Start at 70 and move aft until you are happy. That's my advice anyway

Sounds good.
Given the evidence and the general consensus, you might even want to start at around 65 and move aft from there.

You can use 65 but you can have problems with the CG to far forward. I would start at 70 and move either way.
