Brilliant flying!
are the flaps deployed for most of the flight (except inverted off course)?

That Scorpion motor looks very nice and the specs are very close to the Himax 3516-0840 motor.

My compliments to the pilot as well. Some fantastic flying there, for sure. In my short r/c career, I don't think I've been quite so pumped to get a plane! This hobby can be pretty addictive!

How about this thing;
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s..._1000Kv_/_605w

It's about 10 grams heavier than the hi-maxx, but seems very akin to it (same diameter, 3mm longer, higher kv, but still in the area). And certainly for the price, 10 grams is survivable i feel

Peoples prop suggestions is generally 12x6 on 3S (top post says 2kg of thrust on that). One tried it with a 13x4 on 3S and felt it was too slow on a Fliton Edge 330, but the cub is not meant as a speed demon (not that that will stop us! ) Their amp measurements seem to suggest it'll eat and put out a tid bit more power, I guess it's just the higher kv and keeping the propeller big, a 11x5,5 could be good?.

Very very tempted to get this model when it comes out and make it super cheap version with htx900's, the motor i mentioned and a nice big fat (cheap) ESC in the 60 amp range for cool runnings.

Took a peek at the manual. The tail, canopy and fuse are the same as the EasyCub. The motor is now to be setup with down thrust. I would advise those ordering heavy motors larger than 28mm diameter motors to get a dremel handy and to order weights for the tail to balance out plane. I would also be concerned with the foam fuse nose holding up to heavy torque loads over time when added with some not so pretty landings. Taking a bit of precaution on the build, the pay off will be big. All-in-all this should be a very good seller for Multiplex and a great plane to own! I now own three Mulitiplex planes, the quality is outstanding and they fly great.

There needs to be a drool smilie to the right...phoenex, thanks for the info. It makes sense to have some of these components shared. Looks like the all-important wing and maybe motor (?) are different.. I'll await the arrival of this new plane!

The motor power setup is quite a bit different between the FunCub and EasyCub. The EasyCub is marketed for a beginner and setup that way. The FunCub on the other hand is designed as a Bush style plane with extra large wheels, very large outrunner and a big prop to match to allow Bush plane takeoffs. The videos for the FunCub shows just how that level of power can be utilized by an expert rc pilot. I didn't find out about the FunCub until I had already bought an EasyCub to convert to an all around sport plane flattening the wing, adding ailerons and flaps. I finnish it up awhile back. Below is a picture of the plane on floats.
