I think the only way to get the donkey to work would be to mount it outside the cowl and that will exacerbate the balance issue as it is already a heavier motor.

ok, thanks. would an ntm prop drive 35-48 series 910 kv motor (35mm diameter) work?

Control rods are included in the kit.

I bought a new Funcub just 2 weeks ago and mine came with plastic motor mount.

In can tell that the reinforcements showing in that videoclip wasn't enough! And yes I do know how to land that thing nice and easy, but I'm flying a somewhat heavy 3542 motor using big 3 and 4-cell batteries and I got very tired of bending the original single wired landing gear back into shape.

I've since rebuild the entire LG and last but not least the mounting bracket. And it's made a huuuuge difference compared to the stock LG

I'll post some detailed pics of the mounting bracket later tonight.

Here's some shots of how the landing gear looks now.

Maybe, The motor would fit in the cowl, but with the length of that motor you might not be able to tilt the motor down to the degree recommended by the manual without having the rear of the motor impact the cowl.

Also with the wattage of that motor, you will probably need strengthen and stiffen the cowl.

I don't know what your plans are for the cub, but motors are relatively easy to swap. If you don't already know you need the power, go with one of the many tried and true motors listed on this thread and perhaps a more powerful ESC, then swap motors if you find you need more power.

Read the reviews on the KD motor that I put on mine... thus far I am really liking it.

WOW! Looks like newly strung piano, but intuitively looks very effective and to be a big improvement!

Thanks The wheels are indeed Dave Brown Big Lite's 5 inch. They're sturdy but still soft enough without being too mushy.

And I'm very pleased with the performance of my home cooked landing gear. The amount of flexibility resembles the real thing much more now

Secondly I want to thank you for the extremely valuable information. It advanced my understading significantly. Thank you very much.

I intend to follow your recommendations across the board. I have been reading and learning from this and your other posts regarding power set-ups for the Fun Cub. They have been a tremendous help. Thanks for taking me by the hand and leading me through the maze of products and information surrounding our hobby.

I agree with your suggestion to spend a few extra dollars to get a better, more reliable product. Please do not misinterpret my target when I used the word 'economical'. I try to be economical with my household utility bills and other such expenses but I do not see wisdom in being cheap and miserly with regard to your hobbies or passions. My only thought is, that being a beginner, it is wise for me to grow and and gain experience and then up grade my equipment when I am ready. Bottom line: I would prefer to teach a teen-age daughter to drive on a Chevy rather than a Mercedes 560 SE.

Thanks again and I will continue to follow your future posts to others to be able to learn more. Thanks!!
what about the prop size?
