Ok, Thursday afternoon is looking like some wind (current forecast is 14 from the West in Kennewick). My samurai is built and test flown. This is a recipe for disaster. Anyone else going to be up there on Thursday afternoon/evening? I need someone to show me the ropes. Never done this slope thing before.

Philthyy,

You live right across from a decent slope there in HR. Good lift in the late spring and summertime W wind. Check out Lumber and Bald Butte sites here....

4:00? We may be gone by then...

This will be a day trip, 4 hours drive each way. We usually try to get there by 10:00 and usually head home around 3:00. Weekend trips are different...

Creg started complaining about being cold, so he decided to go on a little walk.

This is what happens when you let Jeremy huck your plane into the back side of a thermal cycle!

Eventually, it warmed up and some more gliders decided they wanted a turn.

Despite a somewhat auspicious beginning, the day turned out to be a lot of fun. Early, it was cold, but winds were 25+. As the day wore on, it warmed up nice, and winds slowly tapered off. We had an hour or so of great Slermal conditions before the wind completely died around 3:30.

I am sad that I had to miss it. I will meet up with you guys at some point though, I promise.

Tomorrow looks good. Time to maiden the Samurai.

Looks good. Forecast is calling for straight in on Eagle (220*) @ 17 which basically translates to 30-35 on the hill.

Friday is now looking like 42mph... Bigger wind each time I look.

I was up at Eagle today and it was probably 30+ and AWESOME. I am just guessing though. Kennewick weather station was reading 19-21mph. Can't believe nobody else was up there today. It was nice to have the hill to myself though.

Got to wring out my Samurai pretty well.
