The usual flying sites in the Tri-Cities are detailed on the Mid Columbia Soarers website. Eagle Butte overlooks Badger Road and it is "drive and fly" but you need to be a member to access the private property. The others, Chandler and Kiona overlook I82 around Benton City and are public lands so open to anyone. Which means lots of nonfliers use it for hiking, trail riding, target shooting, drinking, busting bottles (see target shooting), etc.

Thanks, Vic. It was fun meeting and flying with all of you guys. I'll be there Sunday if the wind is there.

some of Mike's less than desirable So. Cal. flying buddies are considering a trip to the NW. When's the best time of year wind wise?

April, May, June, September, October.

The other months are flyable when the wind is working. It is either too hot or cold. I flew Thanksgiving weekend two years ago. A balmy 10 degrees, with the wind chill. Transmitter mitts are a must in those conditions.

I like the May-June period. Nice warm long days!

What was the name of that event a few weeks before PSS Fest at Cajon?
Wonder if we can get the posse mobilized to infest the buttes in May.

the place i'm thinking is just south of a big church, with a fairly new development with some mini mansions creeping up the footsteps, a nice park and a trail lead to the top from the north side, and gated access from the south i think, though i've only hiked up it a couple times, but the wind was great!! next time i'm out i guess i'll bring the sloper and see whats up i guess...i've not found any nice slope sites here which is a bummer...i'm gonna try DLG though but i'm guessing thermals may be hard to come by too...
