The New Sloroll biplane is based on the World famous Slofly28 made famous by Sloper steve and Gene bond, for years now I had started this project only to be side track with other builds and projects, I decided yesterday to revisit my project And the Sloroll was invented.

I came up with my Name after testing here indoor and the fact that she rolls slow and smooth.

Ok Fist off the items I had planed on using for the plane were simple items for the pilot and the builder on a budget.

1. Motorfly 2205-1350 More Information here
1. 10 amp brushless esc
2. 5 gram bluebird 306 servos for the Rudder + Elevator + 1. 9 hxt900 gram for the Ailerons
I would be using a gws tyrp 4 channel receiver
gws 9050 prop
9mm 1.3# epp foam for the fusealge + Rudder + Elevator
5mm 1.3# for the wings since there are now 2
and 5mm for the new wing braces.
3mm carbon was used for the fusealge + elevator
5mm flat carbon was used in both the wings
a motor mount the kind I sell on my site was used
I also went with 2mm carbon rods for the x bracing for the wings
and the control rods and Aileron linkage,
grabed some stir sticks from starbucks for the control horns for the ailerons


This plane can be built using all the plans from the original sloyfly28 with a few minor mods I will post pictures so you can see how I did what I did!

I will try and make the plans tonight with the upgrades using google sketchup so I can create a PDF for you scratch builders

as I posted before the only things changed on the original plane was I added a top wing piece of foam to the original fuselage I moved teh location of the wing straight down to the lowe part of the fuselage and straight up for the top section.

the wings are made of 5mm epp with flat carbon bracing used.

the wing struts are also made of 5mm epp

The rest of the plane is built stock

The demo model uses dubro ez-connectors I think I would do z-bends as getting to the little set screws can be a little tough.

the carbon pushrod method used for the top ailerons was a idea that I got from a kit I built from my friends over at www.budgetrc.com

as I tried control rods but there was way to much play and the Ailerons were flapping around.

I hope to get out and fly the prototype in the next couple days so stay tunned for the video.

That is a really sick bipe Rob. You make flying that thing look wayyyyyy toooo easy! Are you going to be cutting any as kits in the future? How about full sized plans?

Thanks for designing a great plane. I hope you will include a full size pdf or Sketchup format file, they are much easier work with when printed full size, knowing ever body does not have "E" size printing, but Quick-print and the UPS store does.. Thanks Jack

Looks like a sweet flying plane. I may have to build one...now where can I get 5mm foam?

If you cant find 5mm you can build the whole plane out of 6mm and it should work great!

Gotta love shooting with HD you can capture some great video grabs and turn them into cool Pictures.

I just got my EPP foam in and it's all 9mm. Do you see any major (or minor) issues with using all 9mm EPP? I already have the templates made and traced out on the 9mm ready to start cutting. I'm really looking forward to a good slowflyer in flight!

pddown1231 if you use all 9mm the wings are going to add a bunch of weight
thats why i went with 5mm as the weight was about the same.

What kind of battery are you using and how much time are you getting with that prop? Thanks for the info. I might build one using all 9mm (in spite of extra weight) a blue wonder with a gws 8043 curved prop and 360 to 460 mAh 3S lipos. Thanks!
