Wow, those are high. You can practically see the curvature of the earth...

Did you ever beat your 1100' AGL personal altitude record?

Hello eBird, To tell the truth I don't know. I will attach my altimeter watch tomorrow and see how high I can go. I have just been hauling the PenCam around. Been trying to get a photo thru the clouds, which is very difficult. How's things going with you? jmh

My goal, once I am NOT carrying up a Gazbillion ounce camera, but a pencam, is to use one of those spotting scopes to see it. That was I will be able to fly MUCH higher. -Patrick

Went out this afternoon with intentions of going higher than 1100' and snapping a few pictures. I attached a casio altimeter watch beside the camera and went for it. The sky was a pale blue hazy color today. I climbed till the plane just about disappeared in the haze. Thats when it dawned on me that the bottom of a Slow Stick wing (being white) blended right into the haze. I brought the plane down and looked at the recorded altitude............800'. I will paint the bottom of the wing a darker color and try this again. jmh

Yeah, I've thought of that as well, but can't decide which color.

Let me know what you end up doing and how it works.
Against a white cloud, the wing bottom actually shows up pretty well as a dark silhouette, but very high against blue sky does NOT show up well...

Where'd you get your altimieter watch? I've seen a few of the casio ones, but haven't taken the plunge. Yet.

Picked it up a walmart. It's called Forester Alti-Barometer. Was on sell discounted to $50.00. This was several months ago. It has a setting that will record the "high" altitude. I took the band off and stuck velcro on the bottom. This way I can just stick it to the bottom of my battery. jmh

Hi JMH,

Are you using the standard 300 drive train in that SS?
If so, I can't wait to get one!

Hello Thermitex, I am using a brushless Mini AC .... but don't let that stop you from getting that Slow Stick. The standard power system provides lots of enjoyment. It will be the best 30.00 you will ever spend in this hobby. jmh

Thanks JMH,

I really can't wait to get one.
With the cost of the kit, I may even take my first step
into brushless power soon!
Providing I get enough overtime in that is ; )
