New Product
54* & 55* Bell/Hiller TechHead for the Walkera 4#6S, 4#6, CB100, 4#3B & 4#3Q Heli's

Welcome to the TechHead support thread everyone!

Introduction:

The TechHead is a Full Bell/Hiller Head for Single Rotor Fixed Pitch Helicopters with a 54 and 55 Degree Offset Flybar. This unique combination of Rotor Head designs gives your Fixed Pitch Helicopter the fast and instant response usually reserved for Bell/Hiller Collective Pitch heli's while at the same time giving your heli the true "Self-Stabilizing" properties usually only found in more traditional 45 Degree Bell Rotor Head helicopters such as the CB100 and the Nine Eagles SOLO PRO.

The TechHead has been in development since this time last year, long before offset flybars for Single Rotor FP heli's came on the market. As far as I knew anyway. The original inspiration for me to experiment with offset flybars came from looking at Picoo-Z type helicopters. After awhile I noticed that the Hirobo SRB Quark had an offset flybar as well with a rotor head design somewhat similar to what I was working on. That gave me the confidence I was headed in the right direction as the Quark was known to be the most stable single rotor FP heli of the time.

So here we are a year later and the TechHead is finally in production!

The TechHead also has other design elements that raise it above the quality of the Stock Walkera heads such as being cut from a super strong 7075 Grade Aluminum Alloy, and Feathering Shaft cavities that are deep enough to fully capture the O-rings with a nice beveled edge/rim to protect the O-rings from damage.

Many have been asking for a "parts to complete list" prior to the release of the TechHead so without further adieu, I am proud to present...

Update 3/15/12: You can purchase TechHeads directly from me. Just shoot me a PM. The TechHeads can also be used with the newer FBL "V..D.." series helis, and people say it's the best!

++++++++++++++++++

Parts list to complete the 4#3B/CB100 TechHead in clear/silver color:

54* Bell/Hiller TechHead for the 4#3B/4#3Q/CB100

Walkera 4#3B Rotor Head Set - HM-4#3B-Z-09

Walkera CB100 Blade Holder - HM-CB100-Z-10

Walkera 4G6 Blade Controller - HM-4G6-Z-09

Walkera 4#3B Balance Bar - HM-4#3B-Z-06

Walkera 4G6/4#6 Flybar Paddles - HM-4G6-Z-04/HM-4#6-Z-03

Walkera CB100 Linkage Set - HM-CB100-Z-06

Walkera 4#3B Swashplate - HM-4#3B-Z-10

Note: To complete a TechHead for the 4#3B using the stock 4#3B Swashplate - HM-4#3B-Z-10 you will also have to make your own "swash plate to mixing arm" linkages by cutting off the Ball Cup Loops from the 'normal/straight' ball cups ends of the CB100 Linkage Set - HM-CB100-Z-06 and inserting/screwing in the "Small Ball Studs" you can find on any of these parts:
1. Walkera 4G6 Blade Controller - HM-4G6-Z-09
2. Walkera CB100 Blade Controller - HM-CB100-Z-03
3. Walkera 4#3B Blade Holders - HM-4#3B-Z-05
4. Walkera 4#6 Main Blade Holders - HM-4#6-Z-04
5. Walkera 4G3/4G6 Swashplate Upgrade - HM-4G3-Z-37/HM-4G6-Z-08
But: if you have (or if you would like to) you can use the upper half of the CB100 Swashplate - HM-CB100-Z-02 if you'd like to have an upper swash with balls on it like the 4#6. You will have to remove the CB100's upper swash from its' lower swash, and install it in a 4#3B lower swash. You will also need the Walkera 4#6 Ball Linkage Set - HM-4#6-Z-07 for the half-dog bone/half-ball cup flybar links and also the large ball cup ends you'll need.

Parts list to complete the 4#6 TechHead in clear/silver color:

If you already have a 4#6 Rotor Head Set - HM-4#6-Z-05 you can use the main shaft and flybar pivot block (with keeper bushings) from it, but you will still need a 4#3B feathering shaft and o-rings from the Walkera 4#3B Rotor Head Set - HM-4#3B-Z-09.

If you don't have/or don't want to re-use parts from the 4#6 Rotor Head Set - HM-4#6-Z-05, then here is the complete list for the parts you will need to do a 4#6 TechHead:

55* Bell/Hiller TechHead for the 4#6/4G6

Walkera 4G6 Main Shaft - HM-4G6-Z-10

Walkera 4#3B Rotor Head Set - HM-4#3B-Z-09

Walkera CB100 Blade Holder - HM-CB100-Z-10

Walkera 4G6 Blade Controller - HM-4G6-Z-09

Walkera 4#3B Balance Bar - HM-4#3B-Z-06

Walkera 4G6/4#6 Flybar Paddles - HM-4G6-Z-04/HM-4#6-Z-03

Walkera CB100 Linkage Set - HM-CB100-Z-06

Walkera 4#6 Ball Linkage Set - HM-4#6-Z-07

Of coarse you can substitute some of these parts with others such as the blade holders and mixing arms for different color combinations.

Please note: that the 4#3Q Rotor Head Sets have a longer main shaft than the 4#3B and the CB100. Therefore it should only be used for its' main shaft when making a TechHead for the 4#3Q helicopters.

Not to sure what else to write right now so I'll leave it at this for now and let the questions flow in...

"Let the games begin!"

Thank you all for all your support,
Jay

Rick at ClubHeli.com has assured me that the Pre-order listing should be up on Monday!

Those who asked to be on "My" pre-order list will be given first priority in the original order of that list! So, those who have been waiting for a long time won't have to worry about getting kicked out of line.

Very cool Jay!

Sounds great, as I remember I have been on the list since pretty early on. I'll check out Rick's site in the morning.

Can't wait to try it out.

Regards,
John

Hey, all right! Cool!

Oh, I still have a few more to add...I'll update it!

I just got done flying my 4#6 around and I am just astonished with how connected I feel to the heli!

With 4#3Q blades it's like a fast CP, like a 4G6! Sound and all!

The blades cutting hard through the air on fast turns and changes in direction sounds awesome! I was just trying the HP08-v1 on a 19t pinion and it is crazy!

I find the stock blades worked very good with a 14t pinion (with the HP08).

I think it's time to cut my tail short and finally shrink this bird!

Hi Peter!

Later,
Jay

Hey Jay,

Great job man, been following your progress for nearly a year with great interest! You’re quit talented!

I see that I’m way down on the list, but at least I’m ON the list!

Funny about that DD main motor idea! I was thinking about that same thing for the 4#3 way back when, but am not smart enough to figure out how to do it! I’ll be watching to see what you come up with!

Yep, this is just the name collum from the spread sheet.

Thanks starz! You're actually only #20 on the 4#6 list! The top is mostly comprized of 4#3B TechHead preorders.

Hi all,
You should have most of the components to complete the head by stripping parts from your "old" head. If my past experience with b/h heads is consistent with the TH...all you need to "make" on the B, is 2 links to the mixer. you should already have all the other stuff .

regards,
Bill
