Car is packed and I'm ready to go. Should get up into the low 70's today. Going to the large flying field at Hodges Hobbies. Might have to buy me another plane while there with my X-mas RC money -- cause it's trying to burn a hole in my pocket.

Snow is only a couple inches on the field by now. How much is left up there? Flyable?

We Got 4 inches.
We had the blizzard wind, but not the snow.

The snow is still powder with plenty of bare spots.

Up here by in Eldorado County we got over 4 inches of rain overnight! Now we are having a cold snap and everything is frozen, weird weather!

I decided to try to get in a quick flight on my new parkzone T-28 Ultra Micro, since the wind calmed a bit right before sunset. I first tested the winds with my Champ, and found it to be breezier than I hoped but OK. So I launched the T-28 and instantly was glad of the time I had spent with similar planes on Realflight and Phoenix as I worked to keep it on a heading and make some controlled turns. I put it down pretty quickly to get a feel for how it would land and decided for a quick second flight. Just after climbing a bit and getting back to the heading I wanted, the plane caught a gust and I was suddenly inverted and heading back downwind. The training came through and I recovered nicely and landed. That, together with the fading light and beginnings of a rain shower, put an end to my very brief maiden. Unfortunately that may be it for a while as we're supposed to get more wind the rest of the weekend.

I went flying yesterday. Very successful. The weather was perfect and the snacks were good.

Cheers,
Henry

Got to fly today, an auspicious start to 2011! Many of the gang were there, many for January anyway. Got pics! 60*, light wind, overcast.

I just put in almost two minutes on my go-to plane, the little pink foam Gerbil wing. I would have gone longer but the 8*F weather was making the ESC act up. The motor was pulsing and power was just generally spotty.

I got it all on video, though, including the extraordinarily hairy takeoff
