That shouldn't really be too tough of a choice. Those are two totally different planes, for two completely different flying styles. How do you want to fly?

I like my PZ UM Spitfire. It does seem to be a bit heavy and drains the battery a little quicker than my PZ UM P-51 Stang. The fact that it pulses the motor when the batt gets low, has caused me a crash in a tree. I have learned to keep it close on the last half of the batt so I can set it down quickly when it starts pulsing. Nice plane though.

I have no experience with the UM SU26, as 3D flying does not really interest me.

Why do you say jail/fine? Just curious.

It is today's world. There's no way anyone would go to jail or get fined for mounting a stuffed cat on a quad in the USA, as there are no laws to prevent one from doing so. It's simply a stuffed animal. You can do pretty much anything you want with it.

Not a stuffed animal, a proper taxidermy job done to a beloved pet... Owned by a quad enthusiast, who mounted her taxidermied pelt to his favorite quad.

A fine tribute for a beloved pet!

Can't think of anything that a deceased cat might like, other than to get up in the air with those pesky (and tasty) birds that have heckled it, it's whole life long!!!

Rest in peace Tabby feline!

Tabby would rather go "get some" of the birds than "rest in peace".

I've hit two birds in my RC days. One encounter was a "draw" (plane and pigeon died). The other; bird flew away while plane went on... into the ground at the wrong attitude with way too much speed (killed).

In the first collision, I never knew I hit the bird. I saw the wing explode and watched the plane yard-dart into the asphalt. A cop watching just for grins pointed out the pigeon 200 yards back the opposite way (my dog was shredding it to pieces).

At the end of the day, I think the cat-copter is absolutely creepy as hell but I don't see anything really outright wrong with it. It's not like the guy killed the cat specifically to turn him into a quad.

But anyway ! Today was a nice sunny though cold day and got to run a few lipos through the planes !! woohoo !!

Warning: Those who know what they're doing say Spektrum is a bad choice for long-range FPV. That said, I'm having very good luck with my present setup. Here's how it's arranged:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1262

Fatshark Predator video glasses with 5.8ghz 3-turn helical antenna (7dbi)
http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...oducts_id=1089

Immersion 600mw 5.8 ghz Vtx with Spironet antenna
http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...roducts_id=266

I hear so many good things about Bluebeam antennas, I kinda wish I'd bought that instead:

LC filter between battery and Vtx:
http://www.fpvuk.org/how-tos/lc-filters/

Ferrite rings in positive leads to Vtx, FPV camera and signal wire to Vtx

http://www.dpcav.com/data_sheets/whitepaper_RFI.pdf

Shielded cables (speaker coax) to carry video signals

Dx6i controller with 2.4ghz patch antenna
http://www.rangevideo.com/index.php?...roducts_id=237

Mounting the patch antenna requires modification to the Spektrum controller. Remove the Spektrum antenna, install a bulkhead mount SMA adapter like this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...email_sim_3_ti
That will allow you to attach the patch antenna. It looks scary, but it's just a matter of removing the back of the transmitter, unplugging the Spektrum antenna and plugging in the SMA adapter cable. No soldering required.
I used hot glue to mount the SMA adapter in the Spektrum antenna hole, which is too big for the adapter. You also could leave the Spektrum antenna and drill a new hole in the case to fit the adapter.
These instructions are for installing a 1-watt booster, but the SMA adapter is the same:

http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/...ge=11#comments (see pic in comments below)
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1247186

I also tried the booster, but mine was defective right off the bat. I'm not sure I'd trust one now.

Spektrum AR6210 receiver. I bought mine used for $50 at RCGroups.

DORA board to translate Spektrum data into RSSI signal strength

G-OSD flashed to Cl-OSD. The Mini OSD with GPS seems to have replaced it:

They also forget that the roots of FPV were to take the available equipment and push the boundaries of what that equipment could do. Good for you!

Well darn. I've been so excited to try out my new Park 450 on my Mini Ultra Stick. I've hated not having it ready to fly the past month. Finally got a break in the weather. About 2 minutes into the first flight, which was going quite well, I heard a snap and lost elevator control. It smacked the ground at full speed. Parts sprewed out in about a 20 ft diameter. After inspection it appears the horizonal stab broke free from the fuselage. It's toast.
