Sorry you were disappointed, but it looked great from this angle.

What kind of a cam were you using? just bought an 808 #16 so curious how it will compare.

That's either a #11 or a #16, but I think the lens is smudged from the inside, so it's not as sharp as when I first got it. You'll love the cam!

I love the way the plane flies, and it was plenty fast enough for me -- but not for the batt consumption!

I guess sound-wise, I was already a little spoiled by my Vampire which has terrific sound right out of the box, due to it's guitar-like sound chamber.

I've been working this night shift and haven't been able to fly for about two weeks. I noticed the other night that our back parking lot is empty at night.

So, I decided to bring my little 35" Herr J-3 to work tonight. I went out on my lunch break to get a couple flights in. My first flights went well. It was dark, but the parking lot light post had it pretty lit up and I have NAV lights on the Cub. I noted on the first flight that it was a little gusty.

Do we listen to ourselves? NO!

2nd take off a gust grabs it and smacks it right into a light poll. Broken motor mount and it tore the landing gear off. Rats!

Oh well. I got 1 flight in and it was great!

Hey cwolfe. You are certainly determined. Sorry about the wreck.

I hope to get an opportunity in the next couple of days. I Have Friday off and the weekend.
Too much great Motorsport to keep up with too this weekend. Legendary annual Australian race called Bathurst and the F1 in Suzuka. It's a balancing act!

Cheers pal

A couple great days of flying!

Haven't been able to sneak out to fly before work due to a combination of rain and honey-do's, but it was calm last night, so I snuck out to the church parking lot w/ my son to fly a few batteries. The wind was stronger than it looked once we got there, so I was a little nervous about his flying the champ (there are some aircraft eating trees and the church building itself has a thing against Migs).

Pleased to say that my son flew well and I can see him improving each time he flies. He was able to keep the champ out in front of him, even with a strong headwind, and is starting to learn how to keep the nose up when turning. He's still heavy on the sticks, though, so we're working on that.

Wasn't going to do this to you, figured what the heck. Here's a (sideways?) video of one of that first Saturday morning when he first started landing the champ by himself. You can see the very near disaster, followed by a pretty decent save.

I flew the GeeBee last night, and got out this a.m. before work and feel like I am FINALLY getting my landings more consistent. It used to be that if 50% of the landings ended up without me having to go flip her back over, it was a good day. Up through last week, if it was 75%, that was a good day. Between today and last night, I only had two nose overs out of a ton of landings.

Starting to learn how to use the throttle more effectively and apply just a bit of power right as the wheels touch down, combined with some additional backstick. This seems to shove the tail down, which is just enough to keep the stubby little bugger from tipping. Ah, there is NOTHING finer than a 3 point landing on a GeeBee!
