Nice Jet

The design of this jet look like a bigger version of Kyosho Illusion

The design of cheater hole, placement of duct fan and the "W" -curve design of the fuselarge.

Anyone share the same sentiment?

Just got an Evader and don't like the elevator push rod routing. The push rods are so hard to push that it will stall a servo of the size recomended. Anybody re-route the tibes? If so where did you move them to?

Huck,

it's pretty much a straight shot through the guide tubes to the elevator horns--there should be little resistance. Try cleaning the pushrods with solvent, maybe hit them with some steel wool, then a bit of lube. That should free them up.

I just ordered the Evader. I have the following questions:
1. I have the 45A Electrifly ESC, can I use that instead of the 35A ESC or is the weight penalty unacceptable on the plane?
2. I have some HXT900 servos from Hobby King, it has torque of 1.6kg-cm. Can I use these servos? The dimension are the same as those of the recommended Futaba servos (except the HXT are 10 times cheaper, literally).

Thanks guys. I'm really excited about this plane, it'll be my first EDF!

The problem is the turn to the outside then a turn back toward the fuse ( an 'S') that the push rod has to make. I have sanded them, etc. but the 'S' curve is just too much. I am considering cutting the tubes and putting the ends in a new cross member and moving the exit holes up and aft to straighten out the route. I have also condiered using or making a dual evelator control appliance. The off-the-shelf controls are big and heavy so I would have to make my own. As it stand now I can barely push/pull the rods with a pair of vise grips. I think this part of the design needs looking at by the maker.

If you can barely push/pull the pushrods with vice grips, there is definitely something wrong. The pushrods should move pretty easily and have in all of the several Evaders I have assembled. But I cannot understand the problem from your description. Maybe something about your Evader was assembled incorrectly from the factory. Can you post a photo?

Ditto for me. Something sounds amiss on yours? From your description, it does sound like yours are routed differently. Mine move pretty smoothly and my Hitec 5055 does a good job pulling/pushing the pair of them, with a only very, very slight tendency to not return to dead center when the elevator stick is neutralized.

Mine has no problem either, I use 2 Hitec HS65MB servos and a Castle 35A ESC and a Thunder Power 2200 4s1p and 30 grams of lead in the nose for CG.
Fantastic flight

Sorry for the blur shot , I guess I was flying too fast for the camera man

I'll get some pics when I go to my shop tomorrow. I get inside and outside pictures shoeing the bends in the routing.

Is the manual available online for the Evader? I am thinking about getting one soon, like to see what I need as far as servo requirements (torque and quantity), and servo extensions. I have Turnigy 2200 4s 30c...is that about the biggest battery Id get in it? Thanks
Keith

Paul,

You had to put 30g of lead? Does that mean you could have used a heavier ESC on the plane? I want to put a 45A ESC but don't know if thats going to be too heavy!
