...Nope. Can't do it. Can't jamb a collet for a 3.0mm motor shaft onto a 3.2mm motor shaft. All of you probably already knew that. Now I do too.

If you use a motor that has a 3.2mm shaft you'll have to purchase a different spinner (the TruTurn I mentioned previously will work).

I did drill out one of the prop adapters (collets) with a 1/8" drill (3.175mm). I did this with the collet mounted in the spinner back plate with a prop, washer and prop nut. This gives you somewhat of a "handle" to hold onto. Then, the collet fit quite nicely onto a 3.2mm motor shaft. Unfortunately, done by hand there is no way to assure concnetricity.

The ARC 28-37-2 I have should get this pylon moving on a 4.1x4.1.

I have been thinking for a while if I could use my 2100 mah lipos without weight issues. The electrifly 1500's weigh 121g and my hyperion g3 2100's weigh 163g. A 42g or 1.5oz difference. Is that enough to affect the turn diameter and landings?

its going to make it float longer on landings. As far as turning, it might make it feel heavy, that is if u have already felt the nature of a 1500 pack. So going to a 2200 will make a difference. You will have to make your loops, banks, turns, a lil bigger my man.

for instance i was running a 1800 pack 3S in my microjet, then i put in a 2200 3S. it definately felt like a pig and alot heavier to fly, not crazy but you could feel it in flight.

Alright, so I think my setup will be:

Ammo 24-33-3500 motor $40

EMP Scimitar 4.5x4.5 prop $2

Silver Series 25 esc $35

2x HS-65hb servos 2x - $46

Hyperion g3 3s 2100mah to start out with and if it feels to heavy i'll buy some 1600's

For the reciever I bet I can find a spektrum ar6100 lying around

Total of electronics: $123 Weight of electronics (with 2100 bat) 282g or 10oz
Total with Rifle: $233

Sounds like a great deal to me considering most other pylon airframes cost that much alone!

Sounds like a great deal austin! Just remember to check things out first. This isn't a european composite gem. Its prolly not built like some of the really expensive missiles on soaringusa.com. So be sure to check things like stress points, and epoxy things you might think are weak in certain areas. Becuase for $105.00 bucks this might be a ship you can only push so far. I think your setup at the top you listed will be the sweet spot.

I see that you are planning to use hs-55's. I was planning to use them too but I was worried about stripping the gears, should I not be worried?

You should be ok austin. Get the hs-5055 digital servos. Metal gear. when you install the servos put wax paper behind them before u epoxy them in, or make a servo mount, then you can remove the servos if any strippage occurs.

I use hs-55's in my other pylon with no problem. In fact everyone I know uses them in their VIP-1's. It depends on the throws and the ease of movement of the control surfaces.

I also used hs-55's in my VIP-1 and i think in my escape pylon plane. Sold it but i think that was in there.

What is the spacing of the motor mount screws 16mm or 19mm? I found a Black Mantis motor but all 4 screw holes are 16mm between the holes.
