That would put you at around 1050 Watts. Phoenix 80 would be needed.

A D99 could take it.

So...that setup would theoretically get you 200mph, but you would need to get a 4S 2450 in the fuse at minimum to handle the amps. Probably not going to happen. 750 watts should be doable with a 4S 2200 if it will fit.

Figure 170ish type speed. Prop down with the same motor.

I would go with the stock setup and prop down to a 4.1x4.1.

If you want cheap, go with the Turnigy 2835 2700kv on a 4.1x4.1.

Im going to test both 2cells (30c) with 7x4, 6x5, 5.5x5, and 4cells with 4.1x4.1 and 4.5x4.1 on the recommended esc and motor. Keep posted

do you have good experiance with the Turnigy 2835 motors?

I'm interested in this new Rifle. I have a new Turnigy 2835 2700kv and was wondering if I would be better off using it with maybe a 5x5, or spending the extra money and go with the recommended set up.

Edit: I just watched a video with the Turnigy and it seems to be a dog. I think I'll go with the stock setup for now.

Depending on the plane I would guess around 80.

The Rifle will be my first pylon. I'm used to going over 100 with my slope planes but they are much bigger. If I could get at least 80 with such a small plane I think I would be satisfied for now.

I would say a 5x5 on that turnigy should get you about the same speed as the stock setup.

Thanks for your input. It would be nice if i could find a home for this motor. All my electric planes so far are out runners geared more towards aerobatics than speed. I must admit though my higher priced Hacker motors are much better than the Turnigy, so I can see the justification for spending more money on a good motor. But for now I just want to get in cheap and see if I like fast little planes.

Yup. With that prop you'll probably pull around 30 amps, which shouldn't be a problem with the 37-2.5.

After two 3-4 second bursts and initial #'s, I ran both wide open on fresh batteries for 10 seconds. The Turnigy motor was a lot hotter than the ARC.

Based on the numbers, the ARC will start with a 4.1x4.1 in the Rifle. I think this will be PLENTY for this airframe. I remember the ARC getting pretty hot on a 4.5x4.5 last time I ran it in a bigger pylon.
