This video was taken on a windy day in early October last year at a large family gathering that we had. A good friend of mine has a beautiful Cessna 170 with a STOL kit and we decided to put on a little off-the-cuff airshow for everyone. We were communicating through the radio and had a blast! Hope you all enjoy the video!
PS: With the Falcon 27x12 prop, the 104 was keeping up with him when his airspeed was reading 130mph! Oh yeah!

[QUOTE=TheEarl Of Whirl;23938560]3 axis gyro airplane stabilization question
I am considering incorporating a gyro based airplane stab system in my current FunCub (Carbon SS Trainer) project. I will be using a futaba fasst system (R617FS RX) with a buddy cord between a 7C & 8FG Super or the new 14SG TX. The 7C will be the slave trainer box. Does anyone have experience or opinions regarding the following low dollar 3 axis gyros? Vitter what gyro system did you play with on your Juka? Hobbypartz (73P-3AxisGyro-FixedWing-Plane) http://www.hobbypartz.com/73p-3axisg...ing-plane.html OMG! I just got that gyro from HobbyPartz last night. Hooked it up on my 3D Foamie. You guys won't believe it! - As soon as I hit the switch, the plane became stable! - I went for Knife edge, the plane stayed Knife edge! - NOW, one thing this plane don't do, TORQUE ROLL. So I hovered nose up, then full aileron, Damn, it's doin' it! NO SWEAT .- Inverted, it stayed inverted, and flew it around inverted. - After around 10 flights. I asked one of the retired senior to try it out. He goes, no thanks, He will crash it. I said don't worry about it (on high rates). 10 seconds later the old man was cracking up. WOW, that 3D plane is so easy to fly and fun. The old man flew high alpha, inverted, hover rolls and etc..Then he goes, wow it flies slow and stable. Mind you that his skills is a GWS slow stick I did not tell him what I got in it though. I wish I had a camera with me. - Spyro Note: With the gyro ON, the pilot is still flying the plane but, It keeps the plane's attitude with stability. It keeps the plane very stable flying in the wind as well. My Tx : Fuataba FASST 7C 2.4GHz Tested on: HobbyKing 3D Park Flyer Piaget (not the mini Piaget) |

Any hunting / jitter issues with the servos? It seems like you may have answered this question based on your comments above but let me ask another way. Is the system architecture functionality smart enough to re-calibrate intended flight position after your TX inputs. In other words, as an example if you pull (elevator) to 45 degree up-line & let go of the tx control input, will the aircraft stay on that relative 45 degree flight path or will the gyro attempt to immediately level the plane out to 0 degrees / straight and level? |
