I just bought some PJN Electric Xoars and they seem to be thinner than their counterparts that I have purchased in the past from the LHS.

Does anyone know why?

Hmmm.... Maybe they re-designed them for some reason.

I don't like the wood props anymore. They are smoother but that is it.

Aeronaut carbon CAM is the only prop I'll use for my setup. My vertical seems like it's twice that of the Xoar and stability in harrier and all other aspects of flight are more solid. I put back on the Xoar and thought I would give it a go but after 2 flights I swapped it back out. It feels slippery for some reason.

The Aeronaut is 1/3 heavier, I think it was right under an ounce. My setup is handling it just fine. Motor feels slightly above body temp after successive flights.

+1 / Aeronaut are the most efficent prop that I bench tested back in Nov of 2011. Based on flight feel I do think the Xoar spools up a little faster. I have also heard the Jewett (Hercdriver) is also flying Aeronaut props on some of his planes.

Here is a link to my orginal data post regarding my test of a 15X8 prop array.

Jim (Aeroplayin) did a nice write up on the test results, FrankJP did a second bench test to validate the results & Tom Kitt also did subjective flight testing in early 2012

I have yet to test the Graupner E Prop

Start with 80mm back from the leading edge & then experiment moving your lipo pack fore or aft to get the plane to fly level inverted at 50% throttle with no control input, in zero wind conditions.

If the plane climbs while inverted at 50% throttle and no control input your plane typically is tail heavy. Your plane is generally nose heavy if it descends with the same test. Ultimately CG setup is personal preference.

Glad my flight pallette so to speak is working.

The xoar does spool up faster but the extra torque generated by the wider blade on the Aeronaut seems to offset this, I have more pull out in hover etc.. The most noticeable thing other than the slippery flight characteristics was the Xoar seemed to top out at around 3/4 throttle in a vertical climb. I give it a little more on the stick and nothing happens where as the Aeronaut takes off.
