- Unwraped and inspected all parts... Looks good with the exception of the canopy. It closes kind of wonky at the back. How's yours?

- tightened up the covering... big planes take longer to heat gun then smaller planes.

- Need to buy some Sumo glue today...

How's yours coming Steve?

Yea i have to really press down on the back of the canopy to get it to latch. At first I thought there was a problem but its just really, really tight. Hopefully it'll loosen up some. As for build, got the covering tightened down, did'nt really need it but I went over it. Got the rudder on and did just a touch of sanding to get the horizontal stab. perfect with the wingtube, got tail wheel installed. I even put the 57" decals on the wings, fits right in the white of the wings. I am not good at putting on decals, but it does;nt look too bad. Won't get any time on it tonight unfortunately, have to visit the in-laws, family stuff.

Yep... Mine is does the same thing. I'm thinking it has to do with dowel holes at the front. I might enlarge those some... but like you said... I'm sure they'll ware in over time.

Yeah no decals with the kit... very interesting. Not even a 3DHS sticker. What's a Koolaid drinker to do?
Ohh yeah.. get someone to make you custom vinyl.. (wicked grin).

I can't get over how huge it is... fuse is twice the size (diameter) of the Funtana 125... this plane will be a hoot to fly.. no doubt!

JHolen and Flopgun, what do you think? What type of DW do you think they are?

I want to get a foamy this winter.

Lets get some imput from the guys on which one to get.
D-man got it right - those look like fancy foam foamies, which makes sense. I only know of one guy at the 2009/2010 ETOC who competed with a DWFoamies kit and his name is Matt Stringer - he flies the Orion and is a DWFoamies team pilot.

Currently DWFoamies really hasn't released any indoor foamies, which the Fancy foam planes you saw are. I believe DWFoamies are going to be releasing some this winter for the foamy season, so keep your eye out. ATTF, a podcast here from RCGroups, recently had Mike the owner of DWFoamies on their podcast and he talked about their indoor lineup. Remember, indoor foamies and outdoor foamies are quite a bit different. Lots of indoor planes shoot for right around 5oz AUW - a plane that light won't perform very well outside. Really depends on what you want the foamie for - I don't know much about indoor but for outdoor anything from the 40" DWFoamies lineup will treat you well, I'd probably get either the Juka or new Yak55.

I'm right here right beside ya man. Although if I were to sink low enough again to buy another 3dhs plane, it would either be the new 30cc extra 330sc or the 89" slick.

However, there are just too many cool EG planes on the market

Jholen, the new DW Yak 55M is incredible, flies even better than the Juka.

Chet, I'd give you a really good deal on my 40" DW Extra, half price, already built. I might be able to set it up RTF for you if you would like.

Thanks I guess LOL. It flew nice and was way faster than a 60 sized sato powered P-51 at the field today. BTW keep the foam for the ice chest.

Awesome!

Looks great man, I hope you get any bugs with the landing gear worked out.
How was the takeoff? Does it want to lift early? How was your landing, did it try to nose over at all?

Vitters P51 Maiden

As a Marymore regular with more then my share of maiden screw ups it was a pleasure to watch the Vitter and Gab team put up such a classy first outting. And I'll tell you, the powerfull "thrum" that his rigs' motor/prop combo made during the low passes turned a few slimer heads. The close was a landing that pulled some applause from a few watchers. Great show guys!

On the first flight only one gear went up so I flew with it down for most the flight. I hit the switch again and the gear retracted. I don't know why it did this and couldn't get the problem to repeat it self. Takeoffs are overpowered and landings with full flaps are nice and slow but it dose want to do the mustang bow
