NW Expo Pics
I took a few pics from today at the NW Hobby Expo in Monroe.
There is Azhar's booth at Aztech Aeromodels (with my plane on display to the far left - Slipstream MXS). Most of the other pics were for my 6 year old son. They have plenty of plane stuff and flying area, but they also had a slot car track, pond for boats and submarines, and tanks that were firing the cannons. Really fun stuff for the young and the young at heart!

I spoke with Lon today and here's the skinny on the NWEF booth at the expo.
Lon had been communicating with the director of the event for a couple of months, and he had been promised a booth at the expo, a table in the swap meet section, and 4 VIP passes for club members to man the booth and the swap meet table. Lon had invested quite a bit of money in this, having posters made and t-shirts for sale. Lon got up at 4am friday, arrived early and set up the NWEF booth. He had brought his HDTV for videos, as well as his other stuff. He had set up the TV a bit off to the side to avoid crowding at the booth so the traffic flow would be smooth. Later on (I don't know what time of day) The event staff asked him to pack up and move the booth to a smaller table. This space was far from adequate room for what Lon had brought with him to present. Also, use of the swap meet table was revoked. All swap meet space had been sold out. Lastly, the 4 promised VIP passes had been revoked, so that staff members who were coming to sit and man the stations all day would have to wait in line and pay the entry fee. The event coordinators did not seem to honor their word by changing the arrangements for the NWEF club presence at the last minute. Lon took time to carefully make a decision, and he decided not to stay at the expo. I can understand that organizing an event like this isn't easy, and that being overbooked is a good problem to have for the event organizers. I wasn't there and I don't know all of the factors of the equation, but it was indeed an unfortunate turn of events. |

Well that sucks...Wonder if Lon got everything in writing or if it was a gentleman's agreement and the other guy wasn't a gentleman! |

Robert went to the expo and said that he had a lot of fun. He picked up some sweet anodized servo arms and aluminum wheels from Azhar. When I build my 71" plane I think I'll do the same, those accessories and equipment that he sells look fantastic! He also said that Flopgun put on an amazing show with an Extreme Flight 3D plane that was astonishing! He was impressed with some of the daring moves that he performed on a plane that he had never flown before. I wish I could have seen it.
