Neat find for AP with a DSLR
OK all you folks that have big enough rigs to carry a DSLR. I found this today looking for a specialty filter for my 7D. It's a lens cap with a fixed focus 35mm lens on it. You put it on your DSLR and instead of the cover when you remove your lens. Your DSLR then becomes a Point and Shoot camera with a 35mm lens. 35mm is fairly wide unless you have a crop sensor on your cam like most entry model DSLRs. The cool part is you save the weight of a standard lens but you still get the big sensor a real P&S can't touch. No IS to worry about either. Another cool part ..... the cost. Only $24.50 US. Not sure what it weighs but it has to be a few ounces lighter than most lenses for a camera.
It does say something about it being soft at f5.6 and as you stop it down it gets clearer. It can stop all the way down to f64. If nothing else it looks like an interesting option to save some weight if you want to fly a DSLR. I have a Rebel that may be a good candidate. ![]() http://www.lightcraftworkshop-shop.com/product/17 |
