Question
Bird Kite conversion to RC

I am considering building a Bird-Like Plane to fit one of the Bird Kites on the market. The ones I have found that look quite life-like are made of Tyvek or No Rip Nylon. Anybody got any experience with any of these or others, that might be good candidates to be used basically as covering for an E-Powered Bird Plane.
I'm thinking somewhere around 40-50".

I went ahead and ordered a Falcon from Jackites...They do not have a photo of the Falcon, but it is the same as the Osprey just different colors, shown here

Hi Jp,

I've used kite covering materials for RC and they are very much suitable. Here's my non 'foamie' RC Kite made from the 'eagle' kite, ripstop alike materials..

Yup! The two triangle Elevons at the back are controlled by to Metal Gear Mini/Micro Servos. Powered by 2S 800mAh packs for 8-10 mins flight.

It has now been fitted with LEDs for night flying.
