Hi F1,
As long as you're running your boat just for fun, having a high gloss running surface is OK, but it adds drag. I scuff the running surface of my competition boats wit 600 grit (length wise!) until it is dull. A waterfilm will cling to it and act as a lubricant. Tests with identical hulls showed the scuffed hull is quicker, both in topspeed and acceleration. Once the boat is up and running, you can GPS test it for yourself. Regards, Jan. |
