My 480 Brushless Moves in and out when throttle applied....

Is this normal?

If I hold my plane, And give it WOT, the whole motor seems to move forward.

I can pull the prop, and see the motor separate a bit.... i would say 7-10mm

Seems fishy....

7 to 10mm??
that is way too much.

Perhaps a mm at most is normal.

You should post pics of your motor.
Seems like your C clip retaining ring is missing, or depending on the way your motor is built, the collet may not be on or tight enough.

Pics!

Oh ok, on the back of the motor there was a collet and an allen key screw, I tightened it up, and now it moves around 1-2 mm, with a kind of springy tendency.

So that sounds normal then!

thanks!~

Is it a CD-ROM style motor? Those usually have a narrow groove that the set screw goes in and that should prevent any movement. Also look at the back of the motor and see if the snap ring on the shaft extension in the back is flush up against the inner bearing race. there may be a thrust washer beneath the snap ring.

Yes, this is normal. The bell housing magnets are attracted to the stators inside. This springy tendancy is the magnetic field pulling the internals back.
