Yes MSGUY has done a great job it should fly Ok and although the nose part is large 2 x 5000mA x 6S will eat most of it. Shame that there is not a rear hatch where the kerosene fuel tank goes as this would help to enable the easy fitting of other items.

Thanks for the praise
Your going to have plenty of power, I have a ds-94 HST 700kv also and am running it on 12s, on the stand we pulled 150amps and it put out 22+ lbs of thrust with 12s 25c 8000 mah. The really awsome thing about that fan is it dropped down to the high 21's but the amps went down to the mid 140's I was surprised so see such little thrust loss when it settled in. That is the king of EDF Fans!

Thanks! you guys helped me make up my mind. I was wondering if I could get away with 12S because I was concerned about the weight and it sounds like I can. Also have to agree with Dennis, I think I might be able to get almost as good of performance with Stu's 120 on 12S and shave a little more weight off to boot. Not knowing what I would run into with the Schubi on 14S that was my backup plan

Well for me the Shubi is about reliability. We are testing a few highpowered 12s (18-20lb plus of thrust 140-160 amp) setups right now and none of the motors other than the shubi are really proven to survive at these amps. The Shubi is rated to I think 220 or so amps so at 150 that motor is not breaking a sweat! The XPS motor is also another proven high amp capable motor but at lower kv it needs over 12s to really come allive and get close or over the 20lb range.

We also are testing the 685 kv HET 700 series motor in Tams Dynamax conversion (used for 19 series motors) it is looking pretty good at about 140 amps and holding a solid 18 plus lbs of thrust. We are seeing temps in the 130's on the back of the motor which should be ok but only time will tell if it holds up.

For Stu's setup I would like to see what motor and amps we are talking about. I trust his fans but not necessarily the motor being used..

I think he's saying his 15s w/ Daynamax is pushing (consuming) more than 200 amps.

Well 15s is alot of voltage, try low timing. I have seen the xps unit on 15s and it needed 10,000 mah to get any flight time.

My XPS Dynamax on 15S was around 210A, Jim Drew was telling me it should be much lower as I remember they qouted 150A on 15S, sorry Jim but that's . I am using 8000mAh (2P 4000mAh) Dropping a cell got me down to 170A and my controller and the motor was much happier then. But there's no point in running this much power in a Falcon, I'd be worried about breaking the thing...

Besides what does the plane weigh with all that onboard, it must be a lot?

Dang

I was planning on using mine on 16 cells. XPS has it listed at 205 amps and my controller is 200. Not sure I can trust this without testing. I dont have a clamp on meter for DC so I guess I need to spend more money.

Clamp on amp meter is a must. Ideally you want to put the fan on a test stand with an inlet lip and thrust tube and you can fine tune everything before it goes in the aircraft.

On 15s I would upen up the thust tube to 3.5" or maybe more and that might bring the amps down a bit.
