Ok guys I'm ready to mount my nacelle, soooo what size bolts do I need to mount the carbon mounts and stiffners, looks like I need 8 of those. I'm also wondering if I can get some reference points to where the nacelle needs to sit, how high and far back on the fuselage? Thanks for any help, it seems you only have one shot of getting it right. I know that I need about 5 degrees of down thrust and was wondering how you guys measured that?

i use 10-32 size bolts and nuts & washers ...just need 4 back there and for the stiffeners there are 4 6-32 x1/8" bolts that go at the corners of the bottom wing bolt hatch on the fuse.(these came with the Nacelle) the spinner shoud be 1/2" to 3/4" away from the nub on the back of the fuse.keep the nacelle as low as you can so the exhust blows under the stab. look at some of the pics the c/f mount plate should be slightly above the hatch line at the rear of the plates there is a bit extra on them that can be trimed to match the hatch line .i sloted the aft hole in the c/f plate so i can adjust the thrust line.

rear section complete, HS645mg for elev ,HS82mg for rudders ,has anybody hysoled there elevator onto the vert stab bars, I did apply plywood doublers to the inside and to the outside so that the screw (1) on each side won't pull through when this beast flies, next step retracts.....either eflite 120 or springair 702 not sure yet better hurry and decide.......opinions from our ace falcon pilots would be appreciated ....Roger....Billy lol ....

dont glue the stab ,i remove one boom attached to the wing to transport .just unscrew the one stab bolt pop it out of the tail and remove that wing (i remove the left wing )with the boom attached ,be carful to support the stab when it is hanging out there by it self.
i just got the Spring air 702's and 3/8" robostruts on mine ready to fly to see how they work. |

Can you guys go verticle on takeoff? I'm just curious because some of you do static bench testing and I'm sure there are merits to it but I'm curious because static thrust depends a lot on the pitch of the propeller. Until the prop unloads the prop is just thrashing at the air, not really generating thrust. I don't know if it's the same with the edf fans.
My setup will allow me to go straight to verticle on takeoff, I haven't tried how far but I'm pretty sure it's unlimited. |
