Is there a photo of this setup anywhere? .....

I don't have any set up like that now. but just take a piece of plywood that is about 5x3, screw the 3" handle down the middle and glue the plywood under CG with the handle front to back. don't get your finger clear through the handle as you throw it or you may get hung up. Choose a simple round metal handle.

I first built mine with a 3536 1400kv, and it flew, for sure. I eventually swapped out for a 3536 1800kv, and was pleased with the improvement, though.

That said, I didn't play much with prop size. My 60A ESC was already getting warm on a 9" prop, with that 1400kv motor, so I didn't want to go much bigger.

el capitain, I just finished my Grimm reaper and I have the 3536 1400kv and also have the 1800kv that I plan to switch out at a later date. What size lipo are you running and what type of time are you getting. With the 1400 and the 1800. I can't decide what size to run, 2200, 2650 4500 or two 2200's/

Well, I was talking about my DRXL, so a much bigger plane. I use two 4000's on that one, and have never timed my flight, but I'd guess it's around 18-20 min.

For my regular Reaper, I run a 2200 battery (3530 1400kv motor), and get about 10-15 min, depending on how I am on the throttle.

My dad has two 2200's in his regular Reaper (also a 3530 1400kv motor), and flight characteristics are only slightly different. Requires more speed, and doesn't glide like mine, but as long as you get CG right, the Reaper handles weight pretty dang well.

Thank you elcapitain. I am going to try the 3s 2200 and 2650 with the 1400. When I switch to the 1800 I will go with a 3300 to 4500 mah.

What is this reflex you speak of?

I'm building my DRxl now, and this thread has been very useful. Thanks to all! I keep coming across the term "reflex" when talking about elevon setup. Forgive my ignorance, but what does this mean?

Reflex is the amount of up-trim in the elevons in their centered, rested state. In other words, when your hands are off the sticks, your elevons should still be angled slightly higher than the surface of the wing.

I don't have one handy, but maybe someone can supply a picture, if this didn't make enough sense

Reflex it the upward deflection of the elevons that is required to maintain level flight in a flying wing. If you set up a flying wing with the elevons in a true neutral position it will dive into the ground when you attempt to launch it. Good luck with your build.

So I have a problem....

Has anyone tried to equip a deep reaper with an Eflite power 10 motor?

I just recently crashed my only balsa plane, and thought it would be nice to use the power system on my next plane. I did a google search to see if I could find anything about using the power 10 on a deep reaper but the search did not return anything. So I thought asking might be the easiest solution rather than searching through pages. I was hoping to turn a deep reaper into a nice FPV platform.

a while back someone else asked about an Eflite power 10.

Is this an FPV plane, or just a general flying plane? Most guys flying 3S go with approximately 1500 kv on 10x6, or around 1750kv on 9x6.

Thanks! Doesnt say it wont work. but likely not enough power. I wonder if it is worth a shot or if I should attempt to sell the electronics and just buy new stuff?

Anyone interested in a power 10, and a 40amp pro esc?...lol
