It should be able to be used with a Y harness .

I also assume it is powered by the balancing leads only just like a stand a longe balance is.

yes its powered by the balance leads only.

A y harness would be just fine and probably recommended for long term use if one were to use this as a wireless lipo monitor while charging/discharging/balancing, etc.

I just ordered one so if all works as planed I will be able to monitor charges from the thrown or the table while defueling or refueling and also while at the field while flying or taking a break, chating with fellow club members on the rare occasion when I fly at a club field etc.. .

I have been using it for quite sometime now and refuse to go up without it. Just make sure you don't stare it all the time during the flight. Don't ask why...

For you guys that have it.
Will that mount fit easily on a fatter spektum antenna?

I'm looking to put it on a DX7 and a DX3.0 ground controller.

I only wish it could do more than 6 cells. I guess i could use 2 of them for my 10S packs, but that's gonna look pretty funny with 2 of them mounted to the dx7

Maybe when it gets into the 30.00 price range I'll get one.
tell them that race car drivers drive against a stopwatch everyday.

Aerobatic and speed competitions fly real hard against a stopwatch all the time.

If they laugh at you, just wait for the opportunity for one of them to get an "untimely" dead stick down in the weeds landing. Tell them if they had a way of watching their battery packs in flight, they would have known that "just one more pass" wasn't a good idea with their packs being so down on power.

You should not fit anything to 2.4GHz antenna!

I Velcro mine to my left forearm, a bit like an oversize wristwatch.

Voltage telemetry

I think this is the only time that I can remember that I was not made fun of for trying and using a system like this. Out of the 45 or so at my all electric club no one uses anything similar. Some of the newbies are open to the idea but the old guys don't want anything to do with it. They put a 4000mah in a 3lb plane and land in 6min. LOL

Yeah - Not just the old guys at your field, some folks on here as well (I posted some questions on this device earlier) ...

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1188971

Very different responses - Too funny. Anyway, my question is how do you use this device most effectively? It seems under load/no load will provide different readings on the device ... is there a 'rule of thumb' we could apply when using it, for example:

- Glide for 5 seconds and the battery recovers to a 'no load' state and read now?

- Use full throttle for 5 seconds (subject to a decent amp draw) then do a reading for a 'load' reading?

I am not a battery expert, but you guys seem to have run multiple load/no load tests and probably could provide a great set of guidelines to start with - Thanks!

I love gadgets, especially electronic stuff. I'm a sucker for them, and this one sure looks neat.

The question of when to read the battery voltage is a good one. I'm really not interested in taking my eyes off of my airplane while at max throttle to make sure I'm maintaining >3 volts per cell. I'm just not that well coordinated. I occasional use a data logger to find out what I did, and that's enough for me.

Guess I'll pass on this one and stay with the laughable "old guys" that time their flights and then land and check battery voltage after a few minutes at rest.

To each his own.
