I know as well as you Andy, but when my DX8 went back to HH for the second time, and the RF deck was replaced, they (HH Support) sent me back a 10 or 12 page photo-copied booklet explaining brownouts, setups, battery info, etc. In that booklet, they wrote a paragraph stating that the AR6200 requires 2 low voltage occurrences before the light will blink.
I don't agree with it myself, because as I said earlier, it will blink right away if the battery doesn't get connected right on the first try (Deans connectors......that's another story). But that's what they told me, direct from HH support. |

Right, that's the same as when someone might unplug the battery without cycling the TX on & off before pugging the battery back in. That's not limited to just the 6200. |

Hi Andy,
I have looked through this thread but cannot find anybody with the same problem as me. I have a 1 month old DX8 to be honest if I new it had a built in charger I think I would have kept my DX7se but anyway last week I left the transmitter on charge over night as it's supposed to be a trickle charger took it off charge to notice the back of the transmitter extremly hot I looked at the battery and it was like a balloon and red hot it had melted the black rubber seating I checked the battery it was totally dead. I took the transmitter to Horizon UK office who told me they have not had any problems with the charging of these transmitters so they replaced the 2000NiMh battery free of charge (hooray) I have charged this new battery a few times then the other day I left it charging for about 8 hours to my horror the back of the transmitter was hot again I have checked the battery which was very hot but it has done no damage and have since used it. But I am now concerned about charging the transmitter why did Spektrum go down this route of a charger in the transmitter I cannot now tell how much charge the battery has taken I'm just blind to what capacity it has. Do you think the charging side of the transmitter is duff as Horizon told me it's a trickle charger and can be left on! |

I read previously about owners having issues with the charger not charging (no LED light) but first I read about the pack melting. I would send it in for service and not risk anything more..

Yep, going to take the transmitter back tomorrow to see what Horizon have to say hopefully they will replace the transmitter. I would like to buy the 4000 Lipo pack but there are none in the UK and on back order with Horizon UK anybody know where I can purchase one in the States mean while I think I'll think I'll purchase a 4 cell pack with JR connector and may have to convert the plug in the transmittter so I can charge with my peak charger at least I know that way it's fully charged and I an see what the battery has taken.
![]() again I personally think it's a poor idea on the DX8 and hopefully they don't replicate the idea on the new DX10 when it arrives. |
